Since Blackmagic Design’s Resolve 16 came out last year, a lot of editors have been tempted to ditch Adobe Premiere Pro CC.

I'm a professional editor with 20+ years experience. Abandoned Premier as soon as Resolve 16 came out. No comparison. Resolve blows it premier out of the water.

Text is just as powerful on Resolve as it is on Premeire. Even more so on some cases. You didn't understand that you're supposed to make text based animations on the Fusion tab. Not the editing page. Totally dismissed an incredible feature. Fusion is as powerful as After Effects and has more potential due to the node based system. You barely seemed to mention it in this video.

I’m still learning Resolve but it’s just so extensive. It might be my favorite Windows app!

I used to be a pretty big Premiere defender. I agree with several other commenters. He did not give Resolve it's proper due on several fronts. I have been a Premiere user for almost 7 years and I am not here to bash it, but after starting to do most of my editing in Resolve for the last few months, for me it very quickly showed it's superiority over Premiere. There is nothing that I can think of that Premiere does better other than maybe having a more customizable interface but, that is subjective anyway. Everything else, I believe Resolve does much better. The more I use it, the less I miss Premiere.

What do you mean by "Resolve doesn't offer me fine enough editing control."
You say they are both roughly the same with cutting, inserting etc and then go on to the Cut Workspace, then you gave your winner for editing but without a reason why aside from the vague quote.

Lol saying If quality is more important you choose premiere pro, have you started smoking again?

I've gone from FCP7 to Premiere to Lightworks and have settled on Resolve. And they're right; it just keeps getting better. I edit all my videos on it! 👍

As a complete beginner to video editing, Davinci's Edit page took a few hours to grasp. But the Fusion page for doing VFX special effects, starting my learning from ground level, it's taken me a year to become comfortable with it. Davinci Resolve is a phenomenal piece of software. It's often said that you will never outgrow it. If I were to swap Davinci for a Cloud regime that charges me a monthly fee for the rest of my life, I think that is akin to racketeering.

I swapped to Resolve 100% for my channel and i LOVE it, by far the best $300 I have spent.

Before reviewing, you have to use the program extensively... I have been a premiere user for a long time but I'm switching and going through their training program and just going around the beginners training, davinci has so much to offer....and its better than premiere even for editing

Did you use free version of Davinci Resolve or the studio version? Because there is big difference in their performance when encoding and decoding h264 and h265 codecs

Premiere is incredibly inefficient. Editing the same 4K footage on final cut is so much faster and more seamless, it just renders footage faster and leads to far fewer hang ups on my Mac.

Resolve only fully supports GPU in the paid Studio version.
Resolve has way stronger media management, than PP.

THE "Cut" workspace in Resolve is not there to be "simpler", but to be faster for professionals, especially if you have the Blackmagic editing keyboard.

No professional would ever use PP for color correction. And if you learned color correction in any other software, you would choose Resolve. It's the industry standard.

You keep on saying the "majority of editors". You should specify what you mean by that. What you probably mean, is content creators, like YouTubers.

You can more or less do the same with text in Resolve, as in PP. You just need to learn it.

Fairlight isn't as strong out of the boks, as Audition. However you can get most of the functionality with plugins - paid or free. Just find the proper VST plugins.

I had to choose a video editing software to start my new youtube channel. I decided to go with DaVinci Resolve just because there was a FREE version! I think when you are approaching video editing with zero experience, then you have the advantage of not having to "un-learn" your existing workflow and should be able to pick up any piece of software. I think a lot of reviewers have years and years of experience in editing on Adobe and Final Cut - and trying to change your workflow is difficult... and I think even more difficult than learning something from scratch!

I cut my reel a couple weeks ago on Resolve...LOVED it....in many ways...it's better.

Been using Resolve for almost 3 years now. I'm not a professional, but I found the interface intuitive and picked it up very quickly. It's definitely gotten a lot better from when I started at Resolve 12.5, and there've been plenty of Youtube tutorials that helped me along the way :)
