Quick Tip: How to Set Units in Fusion 360 | Autodesk Fusion 360
Показать описание
Welcome to this Autodesk Fusion 360 Quick Tip YouTube video!
You have been asking how to set units in Fusion 360 and Autodesk's Brad Tallis is here to answer your questions! There are a couple of different ways to change units in Fusion 360. This video will cover different strategies to set units in Fusion 360 or change units in Fusion 360.
First, when we start a new design, we can navigate to the Document Settings by using the gear icon. By expanding the Document Settings, ew can see that the current units for this design are set to inches. Clicking on the “Change Active Units” icon allows you to change the Active Units for this design. This will NOT change the units on other designs.
If we want to change the units on many designs, there is a "Set As Default" option. For example, if we change our Active Units to mm, we can Set As Default. Now, any new designs we make will now be in millimeters.
If we go into our Fusion 360 Preferences, it will bring up a dialog with many preference settings. If we click on Design under Default Units, we can set the units we want all new designs to use as default. We can even specify the default units for Manufacturing and for Simulation and Generative Design!
We can also specify the units our 2D drawings are created in. When we Create a New Drawing from a Design, it allows us to specify what units the drawing will use. For example, even though we designed the model in inches, we can dimension it in millimeters.
Late thing: A quick tip inside of a quick tip! When we are in a sketch and are creating dimensions, we can type a unit after the dimension without having to change our session units. For example, if my design is in inches, I can type in 35mm into the dimension, and it will automatically convert that to inches for me!
