Let's all be little bit self-dependent for daily food need. This will decrease the pressure on main line farming a little bit. Let's do this in mass.

I agree; home grown is more nutritious and tastier than store bought.  ..but not easy to do in a townhouse or condo with no yard.  I would never keep live chickens unless I lived in the country.

It is the answer for everyone who can do it in my opinion. You get in shape gardening before you even get the healthy food.

Can you really live off what your garden produces? Sometimes you dont feel like eating garden food tho. I'm growing strawberries and tomatoes and kale, peas, onions and I guess I'm a noob, but I never feel like harvesting my plants cuz then they're gone lol

Just a note if you are trying to stay organic you are using treated lumber which releases oils and chemicals into the soil and I think your food might not be as organic as you would want it to be.

Many cities in the U.S. allow a person to keep up to 3 hens. Just check your local ordinances.

This is so far from being self sufficient, anyone care to explain to me what are they trying to achieve? They just want to plant a little bit of veggies and eat it them? that is fine.
