Today's video I’m going to show you the full process to sponge floating a wall. This is a different way to start plastering and it’s becoming very popular amongst plasterers.

I’ll walk you through the whole process and I’ll show you the exact steps you need to take to start sponge float plastering. It’s a very similar process to the traditional sense of plastering except you have the added step of using the sponge float.

This provides you with a different finish and in my opinion, it provides a more consistent look to your walls. This video is ideal for anyone who wants to learn how to use a sponge float and also essential for people who have no knowledge of plastering a wall. This video shows you everything you need to start and is a guide to plastering for beginners

I’ll also walk you through the exact tools you’ll need for the job.

Here’s the list below:

Wow... just wow... this guy is more than just a plasterer. He's taken his trade perfected it and now he's marketing his own company on utube. Makes me think i should do the the same, I've been in building industry for 20 years. I'm an accomplished builder, i cut my teeth on loft conversions mainly, but that involves a load of skills.... was thinking about starting a tool review channel a while back as most of the current ones aren't actually reviewed by trades on site. Well done mate, your a smart cookie.

I saved this video to my favourites 2 years ago when I was learning plastering. 2 years later and I just watched it again and enjoyed it even more now even tho I never needed up getting into plastering as a career I did enjoy it. God bless

Just did a large ceiling in my house, it was probably the hardest thing I ever did. I was literally covered in plaster, but thanks to your videos I had a good finish. A few tiger lines but once painted it looked good! Thank you for all your videos

This is the best video I've seen so far. You're showing up close details that other people forget to show viewers that aren't there in person. Thank you!

Good video I've always been against the whole idea of using sponges but tried this method this week and very impressed just shows sponges can be used if used properly 👍

Well many years passed I was taught to steel trowel first coat, cross grain float for the second coat and then finish with a Third tight coat with the steel trowel, jute scrim and up to 5mm in total thickness, young men have it so very easy today

I applied on thick coat and after flatting it twice ten to fifteen minutes apart it did came up good. Bloody stairs in the blood old house. Scrapping the bloody wallpaper is the first headache.

Good vid i used same process on a crap wall today, render at bottom artex one side n plasterboard on the other looks good but u got get yer first coat n 2nd coat flat on, the sponge won’t dig u out of sxxt completely but it saves yer arm by using the flexey trowels
But good 2 see u do a similar wall like that n see how u tackle it 👍

A really good demo for those who have done a few walls with mixed results. In one video this guy has nailed the 'how to' behind sponge float method.
