New footage from inside of the Uvalde school shooting is causing renewed outrage over the police response. The bodycam video shows former Uvalde school police chief Pete Arredondo negotiating with the gunman. Retired LAPD Sergeant Cheryl Dorsey says " to hear him try to negotiate with an active shooter in real time as those babies were being massacred is nonsensical. It is a clear lack of leadership and incompetence."

This is so despicable. The police have a lot of staff and children's blood on their hands. They all needed protection and the police officers didn't do anything for 77 minutes

The cop tries to negotiate with the active shooter while the children lay dying inside. This is so sad. I feel so bad for the parents who lost a child.

The gunman could’ve eaten lunch and mowed the lawn before any of those cops did anything of use. How tragic, Rest In Peace to all those victims

This is embarrassing. They left the shooter alone for more than 1 hour while the poor kids were being massacred. What a disgrace. These coward and amateur officers should be in court.

Cop: “Please put your gun down sir.”
Shooter: “Understandable, have a great day.”

He’s acting as if saying “Please don’t hurt everyone else” will make the shooter drop his weapon and surrender. Absolutely depressing, may all those killed in the shooting rest in peace. 🙏

"Please put your gun down sir" I wonder if they act like this when they're on a power trip over a speeding ticket. I can't believe this, not one man was courageous enough to take action to save little kids. I'm no tough guy but if you ask me, I truly believe i'd rather risk my life with my fire arm instead of live with the fact that I let little kids die as I heard their screams.

"We do not negotiate with terrorists" ... "unless they're armed and able to fight back" ... Always read the fine print

We don’t need a conversation, we need action

"Sir" and "please"... two words that should never have been used in this situation. Weak leadership indeed.

This entire police department needs to be cleaned out. Anyone in charge needs to be fired, possibly charged. Anyone who's just following orders should be transferred to a different station, maybe! This is a great example why nobody likes or trusts police lately. Pure incompetence and inability all around.

Imagine your own unit having riot shields but not charging in to save those kid's lives, this disgust me.

What he was really saying is "I don't care about all the children you killed just please don't hurt us." Defund these cowards, we don't need them.

This isn't a case of incompetence. It's a case of cowardice. Even the most wild lion would do more in that situation toward the shooter than these cops ever would.

Negotiating? This wasn’t someone that was alone and barricaded themselves. This video should be a new training video called “what not to do.”

This just confirmed I made the right choice to homeschool my babies, I am blessed to be able to do so. I cannot believe how these cowards handled it. Absolutely devastating.

My heart is broken for the families of the children lost and those whose lives will be forever traumatized by the events of that day. I continue to pray for them and for a solution to school violence. I’m a K-7 music teacher at an award winning state charter school in Las Vegas.
