Wait... what just happened? Look.. I have been a bass player and a huge metallica fan, more specifically a huge Cliff Burton fan my entire life. I have never seen or heard anything near this amazing ever in my life. I am going to need this to be played at my funeral.. Right before Pink Floyd's "The Great Gig in the Sky". This was one of the most interesting, amazingly beautiful, creative and brilliant things I have ever heard. You my friend have just earned the first comment I have made on a YouTube video in years. Well done. You are a genius, without question one of the most fascinating musicians I have ever seen play. Thank you for that!! Wow.. Holy shit! I am going to watch that a few more times. Cliff would be very happy about this.

I saw Cliff in concert in 1986 (yeah I'm old) and I guarantee you he would be blown away by this performance. Amazing display of skill, Charles. You ROCK!

Me: **thinks I'm good for being able to play all of Orion on bass**
Charles: **plays the 3 instruments at once**

Orion is one of the best instrumentals ever created.

Thanks Charles for bringing it up.

I felt like this video really show cases the outrageous heights of skill Charles has reached. Most guitar songs I think OK, if I spend a while I'll be able to learn them, but this just feels totally beyond impossible. Astounding playing and a magnificent arrangement, bravo!

I'm sat here going "No f**king way" over and over. The hours and hours of practise to get anywhere near this good make this even more impressive. Just wow.

Damn, Charles. You are way beyond a ""bass player". You are the very definition of a musician.
I have been playing on bands for around 45 years and I watch all the greats here on YouTube. But you are the best I have ever seen in my entire musical life, including some of the brilliant famous musicians I've been lucky enough to be friends with.

I was 15 when Master was released, Metallica was already my favorite band, and Orion quickly became my favorite song. I played it for my dad one day, telling him it was my favorite song, and he was shocked that it had no lyrics/vocals. I'm not going to say he liked it, but he stayed in the room until the end of the song. I'll always remember that, weird how those little things stick with you over the years.

Amazing performance, I think you honor the memory of Cliff with this piece. Thanks for sharing your talent.

Looks like a Piano player on Bass! Musicians are just off the charts these days. One

Cliff's songwriting and musical theory knowledge were such an underrated part of what made that era of Metallica truly legendary. His songwriting worked in so much classical influence that James and Lars just don't have. I love the consciously progressive spng structures and pute aggression of Justice, but when Cliff died an extremely significant piece of wbat made Metallica special went with him. His skill on his instrument speaks for itself, but Jason and Rob are exceptional players in their own right. His songwriting was what truly elevated the band.

That was a masterpiece. He rocks so hard because he's not a mortal man.
