Which bass line / solo was your favourite? 👇🏻

A lot of people, including myself, don’t realize how much of the music in Metallica is actually a bass instead of a guitar because of the amount of overdrive that Cliff used and how skilled he was at bass. He was a game changer for the bass community.

"When a Man lies, he murderers some part of the World.
These are the pale deaths which Men miscall their lives.
All this I cannot bear to witness any longer.
Cannot the Kingdom of Salvation take me Home?"

Cliff had me blown away when I first heard Anesthesia/Pulling Teeth, then subsequently on every track that he played. I can't listen to" Orion" without my eyes welling up. I think the montage at the end of "Cliff 'em All" left an indelible mark upon me with "Orion" playing in the background.

His loss was a great one to the music world, but his bass legacy will forever live on.

Rest in Peace, Cliff.

Oh, damn, the Orion solo always sends shivers down my spine. It's the most beautiful thing played on bass I've ever heard.

Cliff is a HUGE inspiration for me.... he played bass like a lead guitarist which blew my mind at 17. Great video Charles!

Cliff died at like 24 or 25 years old. Imagine how sick he’d be today.

Because of the pandemic I lost my job several months ago, and since nobody is hiring for the same reason I decided to do something I've always wanted to do: learn to play all of Cliff Burton's songs. At the same time I bought his biography "To Live is to Die" and as I was learning the songs I was reading the book. I finally finished all the songs last month along with the book. It was quite the emotional ride. BTW, happy MASTER OF PUPPETS day, it was released 35 years ago today... damn I feel old.

Can you imagine what Cliff and Lemmy could have come up with? People saying that's not how you play bass. And those two rock gods just ripping it up! Amazing.

Charles! glad to see you are helping your generation remember the most pivotal bass player of my generation, CLIFF BURTON!! I am 58 years old. The first time I heard Cliff was groundbreaking! This guy was on FIRE!! Changed the metal bass forever!! So many great musicians were taken from us early, HEAVEN HAS A HELL OF A BAND!!!! Keep up the great channel, I'm a fan!!

Not many people realize that the "Ride the Lightning" album is essentially a 47 minute bass solo.

The big thing that often gets overlooked by people who think Cliff is overrated is the circumstances he wrote and recorded under. This man was writing and recording some of the best bass compositions and parts of all time before he was 24, in the 80s, with equipment that wasn't intended for his instrument, primitive recording techniques, under time constraints. Imagine what he could have achieved if he was alive today, with the last 35 years of experience that he would have had, with the recording time that Metallica has these days and the modern equipment he would have access to. The man managed to record Damage Inc in suboptimal conditions, imagine what he'd be making nowadays

The Call of Ktulu, in my opinion, is the greatest example of how well Cliff could play. He's doing so much in that song. I didn't realize it until I listened to it on headphones, when learning the song by ear (guitar). He was only 24, when he died, too. So much inspiration in such a short time.

I challenge you to play Cliff's bass lines while Lars is playing drums with you
That's the real challenge

Cliff wouldn't even be 60 yet if he was still alive. Man, this is a cruel world sometimes
