History? It has only been 100 years or so since emperors occupied the city. Russians, German/Austria, China, and Korea lost its monarchies at the beginning of the 1900s. I am sure people (Stalin, Mao, Kim, etc. )would like to be emperors, but if it is not anointed by the Almighty, it would not be.
