I just want to point out- I learned how to hook / put revs on the ball on YouTube- and because of this sentiment- my ball roll is very up the back.. if I want to make an adjustment to make the ball shape more like a C than a V- allowing my hand to get around the ball to the outside - that works! It may not be the most strategically advantaged release- but for a lot of people, it does work.. if u watch the slow mo PBA release video you'll see a lot of inside releases. If you watch the PBA Masters slow mo releases though- a WHOLE lot of those guys are on the outside including Pete Webber

@bradandkylebowling I can not get my hand to stay on the inside for the life of me. I’m a scratch bowler but I still can’t stay behind it. Idk what else to do!! 🤷‍♂️

And the biggest reason for hand on side of ball is the bowler can get the the thumb out of ball at that position easier

Please talk with Ms. Briggs on this. She bowls well but suitcases pretty bad.
The problem is that it creates inaccuracy on more difficult shots, gets less lift, causes chicken winging, causes random pulling, and your ball will not flip consistently.
When I see people do this, it makes me cringe. When I, occasionally do this, I know and gets me cussing at myself for doing it as I know it's bad.

I was taught a long time ago to shake hands as I came thru with my swing. This gets me on the side of the ball more than I would want but I get decent results.
