Inexpensive custom built pea gravel conveyor system (Part 3)

Показать описание
The setup included an additional 20' long conveyor outdoors where we loaded the pea gravel into 5 gallon buckets on top of the belt. A hole in the bottom of the bucket metered out a consistent amount of gravel so as not to overload the drill motor driving the belt. This first conveyor shot the gravel from the outdoor pile into a 3" pvc pipe which dropped into the basement into a hopper onto the second conveyor and then across the basement 20 feet to the location we needed to place the gravel. Fun project.

10 years later and this video is just the thing I needed.
I need to build one of these to get gravel to the back yard through a narrow passage.
I couldn't figure out a cheap way to do the belt. This will work for me. Thanx so much.

That was fast. Looked like a real gravel processing line. Good job.

very nice how u saudered that bushing onto a screw to mount the rollers. because its not a tight bearing, it allows the rollers to adjust freely so that the band tracks straight. what did u make the rollers out of ? are those pvc end caps with a smaller pvc pipe in the middle wrapped in rubber?

I was wondering if you could post another vid with more details. I need to build something the same but don't know what shape or material is under the belt. Anynhelp would be great.

Edit: I see in Part 1 that it's 6" wide U-line poly tubing, so double layer.

If I had to guess, I'd say that "belt" was made out of a sheet of 6mil plastic, the kind in the Home Depot paint aisle.
I suppose if it weren't overloaded, it could move that entire 5 yards without breaking. You're not out much if it does!
Will have to check out Parts 1 & 2.

great idea was just wondering how you fastened the poly ply together and get the poly ply to stay on as a conveyor belt ? thanks jason

Can you please tell me where I can get the poly ply (the actual belt). Could I get it at the HomeDepot?

Thank you.

The amount of time to build, troubleshoot, fix, and run the immaculate contraption, I could have dumped all of that rubble into the basement and brought it back out and then back into the basement.

Belt doesn't appear very durable. At that speed the friction under the loads will wear it out rather quickly.

You magnificent son of a bitch....you my friend are awesome! so are those pvc endcaps on the whatever I'm assuming the roller is? Also looks like eyebolts that are holding the bolts on...I'm wondering how much slack there is on the belt that the weight of the stone allows the belt to tighten automatically.

the slowness of what you can dump in the hopper bucket... I feel like walking 20ft with each bucket will be a much quicker and simpler task. if you made a huge hopper that you can shovel grit into and leave it while you do something useful, fair enough. but shovelling into a small bucket and slowly unloading it into a little hopper as you wait for it to unload and carry it 20ft - just seem very, very "american" haha
