Steps:
1. Using around medium or size 4 yarn, long tail cast on 100 stitches or 112 stitches for a large adult size.
2. Put a ring on the start of the first stitch, so you know when you finished a row. The pattern you want to follow is knit 2, purl 2.
3. Continue doing this until the hat is around 11 inches or the size you want.

To crown or finish the hat:
Knit 2 stitches as one, purl 2. Do this until the end of this row. Now knit one, and purl 2 as one. Then continue until the end of the row.

I made my first hat using this pattern! This was my first knitting project that wasnt the basic straight line knit scarf, and it really helped with my confidence with purl stitches and makes me want to try more
Thank you!!

Great video, thank you! I didn't know about pushing the stitches and pulling up the needle upon turning the work. My work used to be loose when I joined in the round. Cool tip!

Thank you for this torturial, this was really helpful, I am going to make a hat soon, and I'm wondering if you could tell me how many stitches to use and how many rows to knit to fit an 12 year old, and how many to fit an adult. Thanks!
