I Found The HOLY GRAIL Of Yellow Tomatoes!

The tomato variety in this video is Chef's Choice Yellow. I have been growing the heirloom tomato Brandywine Yellow for 6 years, and it is one of my favorite tasting tomatoes, but it has problems. It produces little fruit, the fruits are very late season, and the plants are susceptible to disease. Chef's Choice Yellow, which is an F1 hybrid tomato variety, appears to have identical fruit to Brandywine Yellow in terms of taste, but they're larger, 1-2 weeks earlier and slightly more productive. So far, I am impressed.

I grew a Kellogs Breakfast tomato this year that was 1.332 lbs! It was delicious! We only needed one slice for a tomato sandwich! The slice completely covered the bread lol! I’ll have to try this tomato but right now Kellogg’s is my favorite!!

I tried several new varieties this year… The weather has been abysmal, as you’re aware… Now I fully understand the aversion to Heirloom tomato varieties… they dropped like flies! Literally.. only the plus F1 type varieties are holding on… a few are ripping along like nothing even happened! I’m looking for a wonderful yellow that highly resident to early blight and other problems..

You need to try Dr. Wyche’s Yellow. I’ve grown it several years, it’s got INCREDIBLE flavor! By far my very favorite tomato. And as far as heirlooms go, it’s always been healthy, vigorous and productive in my garden. I suggest minimal trimming for maximum yields.

I grew those one year after saving seeds from a Tomatopalooza event. Mine never looked as good as those though. Wow, very impressive! I might have to revisit this tomato.

One of my favorite big yellow tomatoes is the Big Rainbow. Great taste but you need to keep an eye on them as they ripen on the vine because they split easy.

You should look for Kellog’s Breakfast, a huge, yellow, meaty, extremely sweet one I’ve been growing for years. It may be an heirloom.

I've heard good things about the chef's choice line. I'm growing the orange one this year. Seems like the only tomato that's setting fruit in this heat wave.

Have you ever had Dad's Sunset from Bakers Creek Seeds? My favorite. I will try your choice next year. Look similar to Dad's Sunset.

I always have loved sunsugar as my favorite of yellow tomatoes, I'll consider growing the one you've shown. This year a yellow tomato I'm trying out is the apricot zebra. I am very excited to see how it compares 😊
