The Holy Grail is one of the most important relics of Christianity. According to Christian tradition, it is the cup Jesus supposedly drank from during the Last Supper.

Scholars are not certain if the Holy Grail ever existed. But there are many contenders vying for the title of the real Holy Grail and the Cathedral of Valencia tops the list. The vessel attracts pilgrims from all over the world, and has even been used in Christian ceremonies by Pope John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI.

How can anyone possibly identify it as Jesus's cup? They can say any cup from 2000 years ago is the Holy Grail and people will believe it.

I have found various different forms of Agates, and even bought some as I collect minerals and crystals for my work and you can easily cut a section through the various different coloured Agates to reveal the beautiful colours that they have. I would have thought that if there were the Holy Chalice it would indeed be a simple vessel to drink from.

I wonder what Jesus would say about such fascination and obsession over a physical object. It doesn't sound like it is consistent with the spirit of Jesus and is yet another distraction from the messages of love and compassion.

This chalice may indeed be the one Jesus used (but probably not owned). OR it could be one picked up anywhere in Jerusalem or on the road as they fled to Rome. Jerusalem could have had hundreds of vessels just like this one authentic to time and general location. With the diaspora such vessels could have circled the globe several times over.

Notice many comments are asking questions already addressed in the video.

most likely that in the past church groups or orders created their own relics to get the punter in through the doors and over time people have taken these for real artefacts.

I don’t think that at the place He was in the Last Supper served wine in golden, jewel encrusted “cups”. But hey, just my thoughts

There must have been 100s of cups used by Jewish people in the area like this

The thumbnail is sufficient. To paraphrase Indiana Jones, "That's not the cup of a carpenter...."

I love relics, but with things that are centuries or even millennia old you can never know for certain. There have been many hoaxes and frauds, especially during the Middle Ages which is where many of these holy relics originated. I'm not saying none are what they're said to be, but please be skeptical. I would one day like to be in the presence of relics if I ever get the chance.

I'm always skeptical when someone says they have the Grail. What I can say about this particular chalice, however, is that it is probably the one that most closely resembles what the Holy Grail itself would have looked like.

Lets imagine this ancient fairy tales are true. Now imagine what Jesus would say about Vatican's bank, countless art pieces, treasures and high-end real estates all over the world? I cannot believe that someone is still buying this...

I really hate when the whole twig versus bundle argument is brought up. The best way to prove or disprove anything is to break it down into components or pieces. Then examine each. If one doesn't hold up, toss it out. If it does, keep it. Then as those get separated out, see how much is left from the original. In all cases of religious claims, there are never enough, or none at all, left to support anything.

The holy grail is often said to be the cup Jesus used at the last supper and is depicted as an ornate, bejeweled goblet. But it seems the biblical Jesus is the last person who would be using an ornate, bejeweled goblet.

Very interesting! I have been interested in stuff like this for most of my life and have found this very informative.

Will this man made legend/myth ever stop? In my opinion, not while the Catholic Church has everyone by the short and curlies! In its' earliest imaginative form, more than a thousand years after Jesus died, the grail was described as a plain deep round bowl or plate for serving fish! A wee bit later it turned into a holy cup. Seriously! It's all made up from poetic imagination.

So, if a VII century sword is found, and is dug up in Wales, and this sword was obviously made for nobility or royalty, does this make it automatically Excalibur??!! Just because the time period, location and object are believed to be correct?
Relics were the theme parks of the medieval world, cathedrals and cities always claimed to have the holiest of relics so that believers and peregrines would chose to visit them and bust the economy of the church and borough.
