I have a question i have 3rd gen thermostat installed. If i get the new 4th gen can i simply disconnect the face of the 3rd and connect the fourth to the same connector???

We had a third generation, but it broke down one year. We tried to charge it, but it did not work so we have to get a ton of other ones Best Buy if you can tell us what we should do.
