Capaldi was a better Doctor in 70 minutes than any other Doctor in New Who.  Tennant WAS my second favorite Doctor (after Troughton) but Capaldi has quickly taken that spot.

His Doctor is what I've been missing from the show.  I NEEDED this kind of Doctor.  I think a lot of New Who only fans are going to be pushed away with this season, but I think I'm going to LOVE where it is going.

Capaldi is a revolutionary Doctor, he delivers jokes so well. Like the whole pudding for brains bit, that was unforgettable!

I love that Capaldi kept the accent. A Scot Doctor is definitely needed. "You're all just so...English!!!" Lol best part

Ok so i watched the episode at the cinema and i wanna point out a few things
- The introduction with Strax, mocking all the incarnations of The Doctor
- All the references to the past (Pompey, Girl at the Fireplace, 4th scarf, Amy...)
- Matt´s Cameo
- The 12th doctor being scottish and messing with the english LOL
- The main plot of series 8: Heaven
-  Did the doctor throw the half face man of the balloon or did he suicide?
- Doctor Who Extra

8/10 Awesome start

I think when the doctor is sleeping and then he starts 'talking' he is translating what the dinosaur is saying! :)

My only gripe, why is Clara finding it so difficult to deal with a new Doctor?
She has been inside his time line and seen (and saved) them all.
She has also "worked" with 3 of them directly in The Day of the Doctor.
Surely she should be the best companion ever to deal with the transition.

I was really touched by Vastra's talk with Clara. I felt like she was talking to us, the viewers, too. Thanks for the synopsis!

I loved the episode! I was looking forward to peter capaldi being a darker doctor to change the show a little from previous seasons but I was really happy that he was still really humorous with all the jokes in this episode. I'm really looking forward to the rest of the season! Love the DW videos!!! :D

I agree with most of what was said here, but I really don't think that Missy was the woman in the shop; I have a belief that the woman in the shop was probably Rose or Donna, and although I can't see there being a return of either of these two characters any time soon, I think that's what was being hinted at. I also wonder if, in the next year or so, the identity of this woman will be revealed, or "revealed". (Steven Moffat's a big friggin troll who lives under a bridge, so I do not always trust what that evil man says.)
Anyway, that's my little spiel on the girl in the shop, but dude, keep up the AWESOME ;)) work - your videos are extremely well-constructed, and I enjoy them a lot. It's nice to see an actual fan dissecting episodes - someone who knows, and is passionate about, what they are talking about. Thanks heaps, dude. PEACE.

I thought that sleeping speech was just him translating what the dinosaur was saying, my fav. Part was the confusion on the purpose of a bedroom

I loved the opening teaser, with the new Doctor's conversation. As he opens the TARDIS door, replying "SHUSH!", among others. :)

I'm looking forward to a more authoritarian Doctor.  More like "I've been around a long time, I know a lot more than you, and I don't have time to coddle you.  Now shush and listen to me!"

The Doctor didn't give the homeless man his pocket watch, just his regular watch. Also, there is no indication that we are travelling through the Doctor's pocket watch in the titles.

Here's my theory-  Missy is short for Mistress, which is feminine of "Master".  The Master regenerated into a woman.

As an old school fan of Doctor Who, I am really excited about Peter Capaldis' version. One thing I also noticed as a throwback to a previous Doctor was when he asked Clara how he looked in his clothes and struck a pose (felt very much like a Jon Pertwee moment there) I think the Mof is going back to some of the original roots of Doctor Who (dark and mysterious) Looking forward to your future videos. Oh, and thank you for keeping your ideas about "Missy" quiet for now, too many rolling around in my head already to add more :P

I thought it was absolutely HYSTERICAL when the Doctor referred to Amy when they were trying to escape using the sonic and when they both used the code Geronimo. Also, Clara's bow's sweater was a cute homage to Smiths doctor.

Will Capaldi very quickly find his catchphrase or do you think it'll take a bit to find his? I remember Matt tried out "Who's the man?" Before declaring he would never say that phrase again. Do you think it'll be the same with Capaldi?

I just skimmed through the comments and didn't see anyone else mention this... Why did Clara seem so taken aback at his regeneration? I know 12 is very different from 11 but she is the first Companion since the Brigadier (who met the 2nd before working with the 3rd and 4th) to understand how Regeneration works before she actually experienced it. She just seemed so rattled by it.

I KNEW IT! I knew I've seen an intro like that before! Good to know I'm not just imagining things :D
