Review of two of my Vintage Vostok Komandirskie watches.

The watches you have there in the video aren't 420 case, but they're similar to the 120 case which has the crown protector.  The 420 is almost perfectly round without a crown protector.  Sadly, the models shown there aren't being made anymore, but that particular dial style is still available in different case variations.  They're very popular and nice looking watches.

Brass resonates better then ss. Thats why brass is used in musical bells, drum symbols.

You definitely won't get better value for money..

I reckon 18mm is perfect for the case size of the Komandirskie.. Any bigger, I think it would look abnormal.

Also, I think people should bare in mind, it's a very vintage style of watch and alot smaller, simpler and less refined than modern timepieces.. Consider too that Seiko and even Rolex watches of the era this Vostok was designed (and essentially remains unchanged), also didn't have quick set date or hacking and they primarily came with Acrylic crystals.

Is it possible to still get new parts for this case? I could do with a new bezel and glass and case back. Are they the same size as the 420

Good review Neal. I have a 710 Amphibia love this watch wear it more than my more expensive watches now. The lume on this is not bad actually, yes not on par with Seiko or Citizen. Plus 12 secs per day approx leave at night crown up now improved from plus 35 ish. Tried it on a shallow dive and found no problems with bezel it tightens at depth so chances of moving seem slim. I find it makes a perfect holiday beach watch it offers classic style and looks of say a Doxa without the worry you will bang it up. After owning and using this I do think the Swiss have been conning us.., . Service life is said is 10 years that really is something ...😀

FINALLY!
i have found the case type.. it is a Komandirskie 64 case. From what I've seen online these were selling only around 2009 to 2011 I guess?? Only videos showing this case type are from these years. I want to buy this very case.. BUT THEY HAVE BEEN WIPED FROM THE SURFACE OF THE INTERNET, of course apart from destroyed "vintage" models on EBay.


edit: so apparently it is not 64? I have just looked at some vintage ones from 1993 and there it says that it is a 34, so....

I have 2 Vostok amphibias which are different from each other. Whats the point of having 2 watches that look exactly the same?

A good watch repair shop could do a relume.

You can polish the crystal easily with tooth paste but who cares if a new one costs five bucks?

You are judging the vostok by what standard? They are from Russia and with a different manufacturing and philosophy behind them. SO they stand on their own, right? For me, my first and the + impression and liking the uniqueness of them.
