In this Vostok Komandirskie review video, I review arguably the best Vostok Komandirskie watch out there, the Vostok Fifty Fathoms 030787. This features the Vostok 030 case, which looks a lot like the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms.

I am Russian and back in the day I lived in the city called Chistopol, where Vostok watches were and are, to this day, being made. I remember my grandfather used to have one. The citizens pride themselves on it, given it is one of the biggest wristwatch manufacturers in Russia, whereas the city's population is only around 60.000. All watches are handmade, partly due to Soviet-era machinery. It is incredible to me that Ben reviews these watches along the likes of Casio, Seiko and so on. Vostok are good watches, yet I didn't think they would be popular outside the country. It simply goes to show that this guy is truly unbiased and is out here to provide the most value. And when it comes down to the bang for your buck, Vostok are virtually unbeatable. Thanks for trying to pronounce Russians Cyrillics and doing them justice. I especially like the way you say "Командирские". Great work)

Amphibian technology is incredible.
The crystal is billet machine to make the perfect fit with the case.
The caseback is pushed by a screwed ring, and this keep the gasket (huge gasket) safe from damage when opening the caseback.
I love them. They're engineering marvels

This is why I follow so many watch channels. Every now and then a timepiece pops up that I’ve never heard of and this is a beaut!

The value presented by Vostok's watches is unparalleled. I'm sure that one day someone at Vostok will oick up on that and will realize they could be charging much more for their watches...
I have a 24 hours dial Komandirskie and a couple of vintage Vostoks as well and I absolutely love them.
Awesome video Ben!

The acrylic crystal is a deliberate design feature. The dome allows the crystal to expand outwards under pressure, effectively allowing a tighter fit under increasing pressure. Plus, acrylic is dead easy to polish to remove scratches.

even at £95 they have managed to make the bezel align correctly, some other more famous watch companies could learn from this ;-)

I’ve been looking for a fifty-fathom homage to replace the actual Blancpain fifty fathom that my Dad gave me when I was a kid. I knew it was a good watch, but I had no idea how nice it really was. We ran a picture on a watch group and everybody went nuts over it. I had a price in mind, but I got ten times what I expected out if it. The money got us out of a hole and made life so much easier. It even got me a nice little retirement account to boot. That’s what got me into collecting watches. Maybe it didn’t do me any favors after all! LOL

Recently got my first Vostok Amphibia Automatic which is similar but rated to 200m (been tested by YouTuber to 800m before it broke broke). Other than the metal strap (much worse than the one shown here and instantly replaced) I am very very impressed with it. Built like a tank, very comfortable to wear and with its own unique style I love it.

I have many Vostoks and for the price i cant praise them enough, tough and reliable plus you have a little pice of horological history ticking away on your wrist.
Very cool comrade!!

Wow, beautiful watch! I own several Vostoks and am totally sold on their build quality and do enjoy the aesthetic. This one definitely looks like a winner. Thank you for bringing it to my attention. Looking forward to your next video!

Awesome review! As of January 2022 this model is as easy to find as finding Jimmy Hoffa. The polished part of the bracelet does match the polished bezel and crown. Doesn’t look out of its place by any means. Thanks Britti

I have a dozen or so Vostok watches, most LE reissues with premium materials. I love the quirkiness, in-house movements, durability, 20 yr service interval and reasonable price. Thank you for reviewing this model, I will pick one up. Excellent post. Thank you.

I have a Vostok amphibia and it's one of my cheapest but most favourite watches ...so comfortable

I've had an old Amphibia for well over a decade now and she's still ticking happily away. I think this is where the phrase "Cheap as chips" originated for things other than chips of course. I've taken mine snorkeling on a few occasions and it has performed as intended, even when I took my PADI open water certification it survived with nary a drop of water detected inside the case (of course I was at a max depth of maybe 50ft. I had no idea they made a Blancpain homage, and will try and pick one up, as well as the "Life Aquatic" watch with Steve Zissou himself on the caseback, or I'll just buy the caseback and put it on a different Vostok. I like your review and have subscribed, I like automatic watches but can barely afford what they are asking for some models. My Citizen Promaster Automatic Diver is my most expensive watch at $299 Canadian when I purchased it several years ago and I liked it so much I bought the version with the very dark indigo blue dial which has become my daily wearer. Keep up the great reviews!!

I collect mainly Seiko divers but I even own 1 Vostok Komandirskie and 7 Vostok Amphibia which include 3 Scuba Dudes and a Neptune. I bought my first Vostok purely for curiosity, got immediately addicted. As for the crystal, although it scratches easily, it's designed to deform according to pressure while diving, hence it increases it's pressure against it's o ring to prevent leaks.

It costs 55 £ in Russia. I live in Kazan, it is the capital of Tatarstan, the Vostok factory is something like 120 km from me. Thank you for that watch, i will buy them )))

Saw the watch on the channel and bought one circa £86 delivered. Took two weeks.
Watch is as good as described. Tremendous looks and value. Good timekeeping and power store.
Only mistake was getting It on the leather strap. The strap is for people with pipe cleaner wrists and doesn’t fit or look great.
I put it on a Zulu strap.
A great buy. Thanks for the recommendation.
