You don’t need to clean your system once a month!!! once every six months or year depending on if you live in a dusty location or if you have pets.

people just have to keep their areas cleaned, I clean my area at least once or twice a week just because I hate dust

I take all the preventative measures I can to prevent issues. I take my fan out every 3 months and clean all the dust. I also do a quick wipe down of my console and the cabinet it sits on every time before I turn it on. Stays pretty clean. My house isn’t super dusty like my old place tho. Also no pets or smoking

Very much looking forward to that video regarding the power supply vents! I know mine are dusty but I just can't reach very well, I have tried it with some longer brushes which did remove some of the dust on one side. Since then I haven't had any issues with overheating even when it's very hot outside, so I know it helps. It's just a matter of time before it happens again so I would like to clean it completely.

I really like your channel and have been following you for a while, but there are two huge mistakes in this video that no make sense:

1 - The PS5 in horizontal position makes no difference, and it has already been proven. After all, the console was designed to be in a vertical position.
2 - Performance mode - this has nothing to do with temperature. Even though the CPU won't be pushed to deliver graphics, it will be to deliver double the frames per second.

John Glasscock is it? What do you mean clearing the system software cache followed by rebuilding system database? I'm a bit confused.

In the PS5 version I have you can see the PSU vent without removing the fan they put a slot next to it on the black case presumably so you can clean it out.

I clean mine every 4-6 months and that little bit down the back that’s small vents, two drinking straws tape them together paper towel to stop the straws getting sucked up in the vacuum nozzle but you do need to be able to get your hand in the system a little just to guide it. Then I compressed air every 1-2 years at the backvent towards the console whilst holding it so the dust falls down to where the fan is whilst the fan out. But no one smokes and there are no pets in the house

You absolutely don't need to clean it once a month. That's insane. Every 6mo to a year depending on how dusty your house is.

When my PS4 made sounds like a hoover, I didn’t care the consequences of taking it apart if it broke, it broke. PS5 wise I don’t think I’ll be attempting any maintenance any time soon!

Unfortunately the liquid metal will drip on its own vertically and cause a sort of dry spot on the ihs which will introduce overheat followed by shutdown. Ask me how i know. Horizontally is the best way to avoid this as it will cause the liquid metal to rest on the ihs and thus never causing heating issues. Again ask me how i know. But i wasn't satisfied with this console laying flat like a loser when it should be standing high above the rest lmao... I just replaced the liquid metal with thermal paste i use on my pc and as expected it remain vertically with 0 issues because unlike liquid metal it doesn't drip under load with heat overtime. This alone is a problem Sony introduced and is outside your control and eventually will cause problem if you leave it standing. The solution is to switch to thermal paste if you want it standing forever. But that requires you disassemble the entire thing. Other than that the thing you have control over is simply to keep it clean. I would even say get a faceplate with vent cutout for airflow. And honestly if you keep your space clean all the time then you should have no problems.

Don't use it standing on its side. There's thermal paste under the chips. Over time as it heats, it'll slide off, and your chipsets🎉will lose temperature control

Exactly what was wrong with mine I figured it out myself just a weeke before you posted your first video on the overheating and how dust collects down by the power source

To remove the plastic and the fan is the easiest thing you can do. You not believe how much dust you can find if you haven't clean it for years. Even if you have it in clean place, it is a machine, it suck dust so. Every PS5 need cleaning. Clean place or not

Question if I cleaned out my ps5 fan and sync what is another reason it’s still overheating?

Its important to keep your system clean and ventilated of course but it shouldnt require you to take the system apart to prevent it from overheating on certain games. That would be unacceptable from a design perspective if it required you to disassemble the fan every year to prevent certain games from over heating the system. The system should be able to handle some dust build up and compensate with the fan speed accordingly.
