========= Hellfighters LYRICS ==========

From a land across the ocean, to the western front where they served
Fought with courage and devotion, preconceptions turned
As the spring offensive kept churning, where the men would earn their name
See the tides of battle turning, and their foes ignite their flame

Hear the toll of the bell, kept fighting for six months in hell
As the war rages on, they fight at the edge of the Argonne

Hear the toll of the bell, over six months in hell
Out of the trenches they came
As the war rages on, at the edge of the Argonne
Hellfighters earning their name

They would have no prisoners taken, and they never lost any ground
Earned the cross of war unshaken, never turned around
As the armistice is drawing closer, the 369th
Kept on fighting until it was over, and they were first to reach the Rhine

========= Historic Fact ==========

In 1918, the Harlem Hellfighters were assigned to fight in WW1 alongside the French army. This regiment was mainly made up of African American soldiers, and they were not allowed to fight alongside the ordinary American soldiers.

Never thought I'd hear a song about the Harlem Hellfighters, this is awesome, Sabaton is awesome, everything they do is awesome.

One of the most ignored group of heroes of the first world war. A battalion that fought harder and more devoted than most others for cause they had no need to fight for. Only to be ignored and shunned upon return. What God damn perfect song to immortalise the Harlem Hellfighters in our current day.

I like the return to a bit of a heavier sound after the recent stuff. Not that I didn't like Truce, but I can't really play that at full blast in my car rushing down the interstate.

I love the instrumental on this one 🔥🔥🔥

What I think I love most about "Hellfighters" is that it doesn't focus on the Hellfighters' race. It focuses on their deeds, and trusts the listener to go and learn about them after. This is how a song like this should be done.

Subjected to racism, almost un-recognized by the country that they fought for, but still they battled it out in what was hell on earth to secure victory. Earning fame and respect across the world. Long live the Harlem Hellfighters!

As a French, I wholeheartadly thanks these brave men, they showed such ferocity in combat against the central powers. Thanks to all the entente soldiers who spilled blood for my nation, and I salute the former ennemies who died in this pointless bloodshed.

Sabaton can really shine even the most unknown or ignored stories of war. The Hellfighters are pretty known, yes but they get so ignored sometimes. Happy that they're getting their due. The son is a banger!

That's the beauty of the music. As a Turkish man i've never heard about Harlem Hellfighters before. Now i scream randomly "HELLFIGHTERS EARNING THEIR NAME!".

As a Puerto Rican thanks Sabaton for honoring those who served there. The contributions of these men have been forgotten even when one of our most celebrated songwriters Rafael Hernandez Marin served in the regiment band with his brother. While his musical success may eclipse his service, we shouldn't be forgetting he was a part of the Hellfighters.

As the American, you learn some things early.

Chief among them... there ain't any men that can stop a group of New Yorkers who have a cause.

A great homage to these men who served a country that hated them.

Absolutely fantastic. I wouldn't expect any less for a song about one of the few regiments in the war that never gave up an inch of ground or had any of their men taken prisoner. Rest in Power Sgt. Henry Johnson, you short brave bastard

They did this knowing that they were not accepted as people in their place of birth but they still answered the call, the harlem hellfighters are true war heroes.

As a Swede, I've grown up with Sabaton since i was like 10, and has grown on me ever since. Now i'm 15 years old and me and my dad love your songs and albums! But, Hellfighters will forever be my favorite. God bless The Harlem Hellfighters and God Bless African-Americans, Puerto Ricans and God Bless Sabaton

AWESOME!!! HellFighters get their due. Not one Hellfighter was captured. They served the longest on the line. Received numerous awards by France. Pvt Henry "Black Death" Johnson received the Croix De Guerre before Sgt York did. Props to Sabaton, Hellfighters, Needham Roberts, Noble Sisel, Jim Europe, and Black Death Johnson.

Honestly, thank you so much Sabaton for honoring these heroes of my country. Truly one of our bravest, toughest, and most heroic soldiers ever in our history. How I wish they were treated better before they left home, and when they returned. Glad to see their getting more recognition. 🇺🇸❤
