I agree with basically everything in this video. I would also like to add that I think aspects should just be something you choose before your game even starts. In League you choose your runes before the game starts which makes the start of the game a lot simpler because all you have to do is purchase your first few items and then off to lane you go. It would also allow the conquest timer to be a lot shorter because you wouldn't need as much time in the beginning of the match

I think the problem with these radical changes so far is that they're not radical enough. If the changes made thing more interesting, it would have been justifiable. Instead they didn't actually give us the new thing, it's just a new same thing. They want to change but they're also afraid of changing too much, so they ended up in a boring lukewarm state.
Either commit to the change, or commit to being the same.

Cool video, dont know about idea of not being able to stack own buufs, maybe it will come down to figuring out the game or meta idk, some cool ideas i wouldnt think of even,

I'm riled up I'm gonna rant

"People wanted smite in a new engine, not a new smite" I am one of these people. I really fucking love current smite. The item system currently is perfect, or at least all we can ask for. I think prot aura items are boring as hell, and too many items just giving way too many different stats is dumb, but these are things that dont need an entire new system to change. They can make items way more interesting, without changing how items and stats work. Make more items like bloodforge, failnot, manticore spikes, talisman, pridwen, runeforge, like THESE are sick items. Do more of that, thats it. Things like thebes, sov, shifters, exe, dom, jotuns, demon blade, are lame.

Im not entirely opposed to active items, but i dont see anything wrong with how relics currently are, or how they were before they removed relic trees. I think its perfect but maybe I'm just dumb? Why scrap the relic system and put those relics onto items? Why make chaac axe and chaac rain scale off two different stats? Name 1 person who asked for these changes in the last 10 years. I know it looks like they are rolling back the relic changes slowly, but my point stands.

While I definitely dont feel Smite 2 is created because of greed, but I compare it to Overwatch 2. Overwatch 1 was loved. There were issues and people wanted some changes but for the most part balance and content changes. Then, they stop working on Overwatch 1, only for Overwatch 2 to be FULL of things NOBODY WANTED. Battle passes, greedy store, heroes locked behind paywalls, 5v5 instead of 6v6, a mostly disliked new game mode, etc.. Nobody wanted Overwatch 2, they just wanted more Overwatch 1.

My point is, why are they "fixing" the parts that aren't broken and no one asked for?

I can definitely see people wanting more in-depth mechanics, and adding a higher skill ceiling to current Smite. But EVERY SINGLE INDIVIDUAL CHANGE in Smite 2 is just WORSE than everything in Smite 1 and its why are we scrapping the game we already love? There isnt a single thing that Smite 2 does better than Smite 1. Its very early yeah, but I cant imagine it even matching Smite 1 within a span of 3 years from now based on the current rate of development. And when games launch, whether its early access, 24/7 alpha, beta, charlie delta whatever, THAT is its OFFICIAL LAUNCH. New players will NOT try that 24/7 alpha in September and then think "ill come back for its 1.0". They are gonna try the alpha and think, "this is dogshit" and never look back.

Even just on Steam DB you can see exactly when Smite 2 was announce, the average player numbers have dropped ever since. People don't want to play a game that they feel will be obsolete soon. I and many others will continue to play smite 1, but the argument of "if u dont like smite 2 just play smite 1 why do u care" is because the player base is now split for NO reason. Everybody thinks Black Ops 3 was better than every CoD released since, but does Bo3 have more players? No because its been made obsolete and abandoned.
