I love that Abraxas Pool CD! I used to play that all the time in two different record stores I worked at during the late 90s and all throughout the 2000s. In fact, my boss had a stash of sealed copies set aside. Whenever we jammed out to the mofo, we had new copies for sale! Boom! Ahhh, the halcyon days of yore…

Cheers from Nueva York, aqui!

Props to SOT! This is shooting right for the heart boys! I grew up with Santana and Malo ever since I can remember. Perfect way to kick off the summer! I am being interrupted right now, so I cannot wait to finish listening. Dammit!

Ken and Pete, been looking forward to this show since Pete first announce it and especially since his review of Dakila a few weeks back which was heard and immediately bought for the library. Outstanding episode and thanks for the list. Thanks for not only your discussion of all the bands and albums, but also for including the book mentioned. And now with Santana blessed by you two as progressive music - at least on an album or so, may have to reconsider the coming favorite prog albums of the 70s that Pete is planning to do in Jun. Lots of homework indeed. Though the other usual co-captains were missed, this episode likely best served by fewer folks. Thanks for all the time you two invested in presenting this for those of us watching. To borrow your phrase, this is essential viewing. Thanks again.

Forgive my spelling, but I frickin' love Mandrill. Like "Star Gazer" from Rainbow for example, so madening that only discovered them songs like ten-fifteen years ago!!Santana III was one of my top-10 favorites in high school in the early 90's for God sake!!

Great episode. I grew up in San Francisco. Lived there all through the 60s and 70s. Santana is my favorite SF band.

My story about Malo headlining Winterland auditorium, 1972. 4 bands that night first band is 'Bull Angus' don’t remember anything about them. Second band is" Black oak Arkansas". They were fucking horrible. then six weeks before "Made in Japan, '' "Deep Purpel" hit the Stage at Winterland I was 10 feet in front of Richie, Blackmore and Ian Gillan, and they literally tore my head off. After hour and a half of "Deep Purpel" "Malo" came on the stage and I did watch the whole show, but I was so blown away by "Deep Purple". "Malo" didn’t stand chance
. I want to mention I used to work with "Abraxis". I did three shows with them at the Fillmore. They were really great .
