Bravo! It's a fiery defense of my most cherished musical genre(with psychedelia, space rock and krautrock ).You nailed it, music is an art so it is very sane in my humble opinion to look for progress and improvisation .I'm sure you remember Mike Oldfield once said he hated punk rock because these people made many think it was totally cool to be a bad musician. This is one of my problems with punk they don't praise musicianship, their loss!I've been loving Yes, King Crimson, Genesis and many greats for ages (Mahavishnu Orchestra too, last year I saw Billy Cobham in Paris, brilliant)

Fun fact: The guitarist for The Tornados, George Bellamy, is actually the father of Muse frontman Matt Bellamy. So it's rather appropriate you mention the Tornados here, given that Muse could be considered a modern day prog rock band.

The punkest prog rock band to ever exist was Man is the Bastard.

1:11 As much as I love both the music and the subculture, it's this aspect that I've often hated about punk. I've always found it hypocritical that a subculture built around nonconformity and acceptance of those that don't fit societal standards would shun those who are a fan of progressive rock.
