This is legitimately terrifyingly heart pounding. When I close my eyes and listen to this it puts me directly in the scenery of the Terminal amidst the slaughter. Masterfully arranged score… literal nightmare fuel

this may sound fucked up but this is my favorite mission, the way Private Allen knows that he has to kill the civilians unless he blows his cover is quite haunting, it goes against everything he was told not to do in the rangers and yet he is doing just that. all in the name of protecting his country and in the end he only doomed it

Man the way the music just drums out at 8:50 mark. I think this plays when the massacre is over so it's kind of like allen realizing the weight of what he has done

Also worth noting, this theme for the massacre and for Allen's death mimics the theme of the final fight with Shepherd especially during the end of No Russian, and his betrayal during Loose Ends mimics the first theme for Wolverines!, when America is first invaded. It's interesting that despite Makarov being held to blame for Allens death and the invasion of the US for most of the game, once you reach Act III one might realize through the music that the game instinctively ties these things together and fixates you to the real villain of 2; Shepherd. Balfe's way of expressing the story arc at this point truly is amazing.

As messed up as this was, understanding how it fits into the larger plot shows it’s not senseless violence for its own sake.

This song is the aural representation of a spiraling descent into the abyss of madness and hatred. Where all thoughts of degenerate into evil and violence. The climax where mental sanity degenerates and explodes into a show of violence where even the purest dies and the most evil prevails.

Makarov and General Shepard was working together not as a team but to reach their own goals. Basically used to spark world War 3. Think about it. Why would a general hand pick a private in the army that's just did one battle to do a top secret cia mission that general Shepard said himself "it cost a lot of money to get you next time him" also markov is very smart and use the private Cia puppet and killed him off at the end like it was a gift from Shepard. In real life we know the Cia is sparking wars all around the world. Definitely sticks to the theme of modern warfare. Good thing both of them Is dead.

People nowadays who haven't (yet) played the OG Modern Warfare games will not really understand how _influential_ this mission was when they do get to it. When you hear people argue that video games make you violent, they reference _"No Russian"_

This mission is probably one of the most iconic scenes in all of Call of Duty.

You can go through with this mission killing every hapless civilian you see. You can also go through this mission targeting only those who shoot back at you instead. It changes nothing. You are the firsthand witness of what is the catalyst for WW3. Everything that happens from here on out is now written in stone;

-America is invaded
-A Second Sun outside the East Coast
-Shepherd is trying to cover up his involvement by betraying his allies.
-Europe is decimated by russian aggression
-The death of TF 141 and their members is garaunteed.
-And the world tearing at each others throats.

All because of this mission.
