I was diagnosed with Depression as well as ADHD many years ago. I was prescribed Venlafaxine for the D and Methylphenidate for the ADHD.
The Venlafaxine did nothing for me. I was introduced to psychedelics mushroom from *mycotask* for treatments of my depression.
I tried a mild/medium dose of psilocybin, it was for recreational trailer purpose but I noticed for a few weeks after the experience, that I felt overall better mentally
speaking, I felt happier, more in control of my feelings, social anxiety was gone etc. All from 1 experience!

I’ve been on lexapro Wellbutrin fluoxetine venlafaxine ..absolutely none of it worked.
Then I had a full blood panel done, turns out I had almost no thyroid functionality. I feel worlds better. Sometimes depression is a symptom, not a diagnosis.

I know some people whose depression didn't benefit from treatment, and only got better after they dealt with the thing that was causing the depression. I think more focus needs to be put into determining and helping with such things.

It's hard talking about psychiatry and psychopharmacology because making broad statements is really difficult considering virtually everyone experiences things differently. I really appreciate Dr. Marks videos, though. I think she does a good job at informing people

I've been depressed since I was 7 and I don't really know what to do. I have periods of months where I'm not depressed, but it's followed by 8-14months of being miserable, pretending to go through motions of life, anhedonia, suicidal thoughts, misery, etc.

I tried everything. Therapy, exercise, medications, meditation, psychedelics, ketamine, etc. I still feel completely and utterly hopeless. Sometimes I wonder if I'm just hard wired to feel constant pain.

I have started combining magnesium citrate and Omega 3 supplements and finally have anxiety-free sleep.

It would be great if you could talk about sleep disorders and how they can be misdiagnosed as different mental health conditions in a future video! I've been thinking about getting tested at a sleep clinic for a sleeping disorder since I've been dealing with treatment-resistant mental health issues for a long time and the symptoms can overlap.

I didnt know medication resistance was so high... This video explains a lot in retrospect. I'm medication resistant to all but one antidepressant and that one caused chronic migraines. Worst part was it took 2nd and 3rd opinions from psychiatrists for one to finally believe me that the meds made my depression worse. She was great, explained the process and we went through each type of antidepressant in a systematic manner. Finally ended up on meds meant to help with energy levels for people with MS and was mainly treating my depression with therapy.

Several years later, I now have a fibromyalga diagnosis. Im on a low dose symbalta to treat it and my quality of life has significantly improved. I also recently got diagnosed with Autism and ADHD and treating those with ways to accomidate and cope with life... significantly different perspective on life and significant improvement in depression symptoms because I'm not forcing myself into a box I don't fit into... sometimes depression is a symptom of bigger issues rather than the actual illness.

This is excellent! So many people have no idea that their meds for other diagnoses could be CONTRIBUTING to their depression. The prescribers often don't know either. For every mental health provider that is not a healthcare provider, you have been schooled, my friend! Time to educate yourself.

Switching from Prozac to Effexor to Pristiq (all generic) and then adding Buspirone helped me get over suicidality, but then it turned out a lot of my supposed depression & stress symptoms were due to ADHD. I'm a different person now that I'm also taking Concerta. My resting heart rate actually went down after starting on a "stimulant!" Also, I never lose my phone anymore.

Was on ssris and snris but they didn't work until I did psilocybin with a therapist and my life has never been better....and that was almost a full year ago. I also take magnesium and probiotics everyday.

I really, _really_ hope that people don't leave this video and take away that "Lamictal makes depression worse". It COULD make depression worse IN SOME PEOPLE....when you compare that to the MILLIONS of people who take it successfully, it's really low-risk

Hello Doctor... I wanted to let you know that after watching this on Christmas Eve last month, I immediately stopped taking Singulair. I was so severely depressed that I left my sister's house on Christmas Eve. I got home and I had enough, and I started researching a way to fix this. It's been just over 2 weeks now and I have noticed a drastic change in my severe depression issues that I've been suffering from for over 25 years. I was taking Singulair since it's release in 1998, and I even had to get authorization from my insurance just to get it. I had no idea there was a box warning from the FDA and none of my doctors ever said a word. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. You have helped me more than you could possibly imagine.

I've been in therapy and on meds since I was 15. I'm 35 now. I grew up with some special needs, mostly just mild learning disabilities. Over the years I have been on every medication under the sun and never got anywhere. Everyone treated me as just another really depressed and anxious person. A few years ago I found out that my whole life I'm actually a higher functioning autistic, which explains why I've never gotten much relief through medication. If you've been struggling with this all of your life I encourage you to find a psychologist and get tested. Unfortunately many psychs and therapist aren't trained to spot autism. I even went for TMS treatment recently, the full 6 weeks and only saw a very slight benefit from it. For many autistics with treatment resistant depression it comes down to more life skills and training and figuring out how to cope with the bad depression days than actually getting rid of it completely, since autism itself can mimic many of the signs of depression emotionally wise.

Its important to remember that some people with fibromyalgia and resistant depression are actually neurodivergent but havent been diagnosed/discovered. Specially women.

Tracey, I’d just like to say thank you for the time & effort you put into making these videos!

In essence, from my perspective, your channel represents one of the most valuable core benefits of the Internet - a place to learn.
I’m so grateful to you for the way you’ve helped to demystify the subject of mental health.

Here in England the statutory (government funded) mental healthcare system lies in tatters

The dangerously underfunded mental healthcare support system is dwarfed by the demand, causing further trauma to the patient.

Please could you make a video attempting to quantify the impact on a society in which people who are in need of mental healthcare are faced with a statutory funded mental healthcare system which is, itself, operating in a state of crisis.

It takes a lot for me to watch your videos. I know there's a lot of things that I need help with, and with topics like this especially it hits home way more than I'm comfortable with.
