The solution that helped me was to turn off my iPad and then turn it on after starting iTunes with the cable connection. Thank you so much, you saved me a big headache.

This is NOT a fix for the majority of people and WILL brick peoples computers if they try to install this without knowing what it is. This is a BIOS update for the Intel made DP55WB mainboard AND NO OTHER BOARD. Unless you have that specific board inside your computer (which most people will not) this is not a fix for you at all.
