Apple is once again in the crosshairs of a U.S.-China trade war after President Trump announced sweeping tariffs on global imports April 2, including on China, India, and Vietnam. The company’s stock dropped nearly 15%, wiping out $640 billion in market value before rebounding on April 9 as Trump put a pause on tariffs for most countries. But tariffs remain at a staggering 145% on goods from China, which Apple remains heavily reliant on despite years of efforts to diversify production. So what do these tariffs mean for Apple, its stock and the price of the next iPhone?

I'm still rocking the IPhone 12 and will until it breaks down

Even at $1000, I still think the iPhone is overpriced.

It won’t be just expensive, it would be straight up unaffordable for most Americans.

The only good thing about all of this economic mess, is that this might drive consumerism down, possibly leading to a better use of Earth's finite resources with better quality, better long lasting designs. Heck, this might even drive recycling policies stronger than ever before..

Why should Apple comment when America's own government has no idea what its doing?

If you can't keep your current phone for over 2 years, you're part of the problem

I don't think it matters to some consumers. They've been releasing the same product for so many years.

Americans need to spend more time to educate themselves on economy. This will help them to make wise choice of leader who can genuinely bring prosperity to the country.

Generally speaking everything will get more expensive in the United States of America. It affects like every sector but I am glad that I dont live in this mess.

If apple wanted to assemble iPhone in America they would have done it from the start, they chose Asia to maximise their profits. Apple wouldn't be where it is today without Asia!

iPhones were already overpriced to begin with i dont think people will bat an eye at the price. Especially those who upgrade every single year. NO ONE should be upgrading to a new phone every year.

iPhone users always call themselves rich. Let them pay over $3000 for their Airdrops.

Maybe when Americans can’t afford anything, they will understand how dumb they were for reelecting the annoying orange… this is so funny to me tbh (as a Canadian)

I feel like Apple (and other companies) are going to use this as a reason to increase the price not just in the US but everywhere.

Thankfully I just recently upgraded all my apple devices to current ones, so I’m good to go for at least 5 years.
