Here are 5 common mistakes people make on the IELTS Essay that loses them points:
1. Ignoring the scoring criteria
2. Not answering the question
3. Not paraphrasing
4. Using too narrow or too broad a vocabulary
5. Misusing transitions and linking terms

In this video, we look at each of these and discuss ways to avoid making thee errors on your test.

I appeared in paper based GT exam last month and received my result last weekend. I scored L 9 R 8 W 7 S 7.5, exactly what i needed. Thank you Adam, i really want to apply the TOEFL exam and IELTS, let me write down my paraphrasing exercise: "SCHOOL EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS MAY BE INTERESTED IN PROMOTING SCIENCE, MATH AND SPORTS, WHICH I CONSIDER GOOD, BUT THIS SHOULD NOT BE AT THE COST OF DIMINISHING THE ARTS, THEREFORE I DO NOT AGREE " Great Channel, i think i will take these videos for a guide, as well all the tools we are given. And i really disagree the example given, how could someone agree getting rid of arts in education? Maths and Arts are equal important

I could notice that in the introduction example you have provided that the thesis statement is little bit VAGUE. What I mean by this, the sentence does not discuss the main controlling ideas for each advantage/disadvantage. It gives only an information about the position of the writer without a general argument of

Hello Adam, I have a question about a sentence I have seen on your Writetotop website.

The sentence in one of your sample essays goes like this:"...many parents prefer their kids study only STEM courses".

My question is why isn't there a ‘to’ before the word 'study' as I know the usage of 'prefer sb to do sth'?

Hi, Adam. Thanks for these tips. I am not considering taking the IELTS test but I watch this channel because I’d like to take up writing as a hobby and what you are doing here is very helpful.

I was wondering if you could publish such content on LinkedIn Learning (It was also known as Lynda.com). There are many courses on writing in general on LinkedIn learning, but your take on writing in english (themed as for IELTS) is completely different and I think such course would be very successful there.

Hi, ive been taking practice tests for a while and writing is an issue for me. i find that i'm dragging the content as a result of trying to meet the required number of words needed. is there any solution to this.
