Amazing Pop Up Books!

'Tim's friend Gerard Darby is back with more amazing books - this time it is pop up books!

Next, a book that celebrates Leonardo da Vinci. Each time you turn a page, another of his inventions pops up!

'Little Hazelnut' is a book by Anne-Florence Lemasson.

“Squirrel drops a precious hazelnut and the snowfall buries it. The woodland animals and birds come and go, but no-one finds the nut - and in the Spring a little tree sprouts in its place.”

Finally, 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland' by Robert Sabuda. This is a very inventive pop up book, and as well as the main pop up on each page, there are little extra animated pop ups on each page.

I got so excited when he pulled out the Alice's Adventure in Wonderland book. I still have it, but unfortunately I used it so much when I was a kid that some of the pop up parts ripped. It was always such a magical book to me.

That Da Vinci book is the first thing that tim has shown in his videos that I actually own. I have to say it's a strange feeling

The person who designed that DaVinci pop-up book deserves a recognition for also being a great engineer.

I've had fairly simple pop up books as a kid. Never have I seen such an amazing work of art like that Alice in Wonderland book!

Wonderful to see Gerard back! I bet if Gerard had a bookshop, it would be as wonderfully fantastic as Tim's Toyshop!

Don’t get me wrong…this is one of my favorite channels. I rewatch all these videos all the time.

With that said, there is something inherently funny about two scholarly gentlemen analyzing something that was probably made for kids.

Robert Sabuda's pop up books are incredible feats of paper engineering. If you ever have the chance, please look at his pop up book for The Wizard Of Oz, the hot air balloon is absolutely breath-taking!

It's so wholesome to come back after years and years and see Tim still doing his thing on this little sweet corner of YouTube.

Glad to see from the comments that I'm not the only one who has (or had) the Alice in Wonderland pop up book.
It's a great version of the story, my favourite page is probably the arc of playing cards over Alice.

Sadly only one popup remains in my collection although it was the oldest with a Copyright of 1951 (may be a bit younger but aging and its presence in family puts it atleast in the early 60s and probably wasn't brand new when bought or received) called The way we Travel, unfortunately theres no photo option for Youtube but it's full of atomic age art with my favourite scene being the Space port, naturally it needs repairs (which I'm looking at doing very carefully) but I'd never get rid of it.
