In this video I am explaining how Jimi Hendrix and John Mayer play chords on the basis of a song. A beautiful way of making chords sound super awesome, and to 'spice em up a bit!

My playlists “watch Later” and “favorites” are comprised of 99% Paul Davids videos.

I love this tutorial, for good reasons: you don't spend an eternity describing every single detail which would make the video too long, but you explain enough for me, not experienced in guitar, to understand. I've looked for tutorials of this song, but it's always either way too long or too short and rushed. This is just the right amount of explaining. Thank you for this!

the greatest video on youtube. sitting in the sun in the garden with the tele through 60s marshall amp sim on logic and learning this amazing song by the coolest most chilled out guitarist on youtube. feels like heaven.

“I still don’t have a cool catch phrase” is a cool catch phrase.

Do you think you could do a video describing why the C# and the G fit even when playing in A, and how to incorporate "out of key chords" into songwriting?

I took Santanas and Morellos Masterclass. This makes more sense how to play the neck then anything they showed in the classes. Awesome stuff.

Man, I've loved this song for so long, finally learning it's got little happy tears in my eyes. Thank for this, dude.

Paul This is wonderful. It doesn’t get much cooler than these licks. I’ve been wanting to nail this song ever since I began playing guitar. This is hugely helpful.

Wow. Learning this was a massive light bulb moment for me. I've always had a decent grasp on chords and basic scales, but this is what linked then together for me.

I watched this video along with a lot of your other videos but didn't really understand a lot of the concepts, so I ended up after a few recommendations watching Stichmethod's various playlists which are great for understanding how scales link to chords and can be used musically and now I actually understand what's going on in most of your videos. Incredible work Paul.

Your videos are extremly high quality. This lesson can't even be compared to the other ones out there, it's just so great... That is why i would love it if you could do one of these on Little Wing as well?!

I love that you break it all up into discreet sections that I can practice individually and either use to play the entire thing or use as tools to develop my own music.

This video convinced me to become a Patreon

Someone had the brilliant idea that I should let you vote for my catchphrase. The comment with the most likes somewhere next week (as an answer in this comment) will be my next catchphrase*!

*If it's some super awkward shit the offer may be limited to just one video... Or maybe not.. if it's really cool awkward shit.

Some days I wish we could just turn the internet off and other days I'm reminded that it can still be a great thing. Thanks for making it a great thing day.
