In 1492, when the Americas were discovered, a new era of European-based colonialism set fourth which eventually saw the continent control most of the World's surface by the 1920s, after which colonies gradually gained independence until the 1990s. This video covers that journey.

My favorite part of the Age of Colonization is that Europeans mass immigrated so hard that there are almost more people of European descent outside of Europe than inside. Easily the largest diaspora in history.

It's crazy that a small continent like Europe was able to conquer 3/4 of the world....

Don't be mad at Europeans, they were only trying to get the World Conquest achievement.

Why is Norway still considered "Imperial European Country" even in the 90s? For Bouvet Island? Is that enough to be an empire?

Is that music from Age of War? I played it a couple times.

European Colonialism started by accident really. The main reason for Portuguese voyages around Africa was finding direct trading route to India and China. Columbus mistakenly thought that his voyage would lead him to China and India and he accidentally discovered Americas instead.

Funny thing is, it all started because ottomans conquered constantinople and there were no other ways that europeans could trade with india and far east without paying high taxes to ottomans so they tried to find a way through west and it all started. Basically turks started european colonialism.iddia

It's surprising how colonial game was basically exclusive from Iberian kingdoms during the entire XVIth century.

If you still consider France, an imperial nation, you must consider Spain and Portugal as well. Spain stills holds Ceuta for example and Portugal holds Madeira and Açores.

As an Asian, I strongly believe that the Europeans were not wrong to colonize or subjugate weaker foreign nations and therefore have nothing to apologize for. They were simply doing what is a natural order of things. After all, morality does not exist in the interplay between tribes, nations and civilizations save for treaties signed. So the strong shall do what they can and the weak suffer what they must.

But you have to remember, that just like the turning of the wheel, nothing in time is permanent. And the position of who becomes the horse and who becomes the master can change and reverse.

The conquest of Siberia should technically count as a part of this
