I watched hundreds of YT videos on that subject. Yours is probably among top 5. Clear, concise and broken up in parts. Much appreciated

> No CS Degree, No Bootcamp

Yet you still had very strong mathematics and statistics background at a university level. Good luck to the people seeing this that don't have that background. Their best option is to go do an undergraduate and pick up those skills, otherwise no chance.

Don't underestimate the strong problem solving skills you develop in undergraduate and graduate level STEM program.

Hello Egor, I am really fortunate that I have found your channel. I have 7 years of experience as a DBA and then as a SQL developer. And after that, I have a master's degree in computer science from Germany. But till now, I have failed to get a full-time job in this field. Thanks for pointing out that 'it is a game of numbers'. Thanks, Egor.

This is hands down the best breakdown I have ever came across about data science: the pacing, the real life reference, all came together to make this very clear, concise and informative! Thanks Egor!

P.S.: love your articles on medium as well! Always great to come across more of your content!

I’m just pivoting to a new career in data science, and coming across your video is really divine.
This was very helpful mate!

So guys, im 41 years old and i gotta start earning 6 figures, so rather than moan about not having a degree and bla bla bla i signed up for university, im from the uk, and im doing a 3 year data science degree, i didn't even finish school, more a less college, my maths skills are shit, but ill tell you 1 thing, i want it, hence why im getting the degree to break down any unnecessary early obstacles. Its only costing me 20k, you'll make that back in under a year.

thank you, your video sounds realistic and helpful much more than some people just seem like trying to sell their courses.

Data scientist is just a title, it is more interesting what type of work you will be doing. I know "data scientists" who do tableau and power point all day, I also know data scientists who implement machine learning models in C++. Don't focus so much on the title figure out what you want to do.

thnx for sharing you experience man, i was also studying physics but i switched majors to applied mathematics, and i'm really considering going the data science road.
having a math background really helps🙌

Your background sounds a lot like mine :) I'm five years into being a civil engineer and just now recognizing that it's not for me... but nonetheless, it's really inspiring to hear how you got into this field. I'm currently in the process of studying and learning data analysis in hopes to venture into a similar field of work. Thank you for posting this video because it gives me hope that I am making the right decision :)

Hi, I am also a physicist (finished my Ph.D. recently in theoretical physics) and will start a DS job soon. I resonate with you on physics not being like what I imagined during my school time. During my school days, I used to solve hard physics problems based on Newtonian mechanics but research is quite different from school or even college physics. Now I realize that what I liked was the problem-solving part of physics and not necessarily the physics itself. The problem solving part in college/real world is done within CS domain and not physics. I don't regret my PhD but i should have explored more during my UG. Nice video !

Good video man. I'm studying engineering but sometimes I feel it's not for me, so it's not a bad idea to start studying DS.

Im actually amazed on all the learning topic you covered just in this video i can only hope to study and learn as much as you have over my entire lifetime 💙
