2:56. "Dude I get like 30 minutes a day to work on things!" This 100%. The main thing I hate about back when I had to go into an office was how long it would take me to get my work done due to being constantly interrupted by bosses/coworkers every 10 minutes. Ever since working from my home office, I am able to focus and do deep work without interruption; much more productive than back when I had to physically go into an office. The RTO mandate is so dumb; it's a great way to watch worker productivity plummet.

Skills pay the bills. You need to be a good data engineer, but there are very few who are because everyone is just in for the money nowadays and nobody for the challenge and the tech

If he was 11 years younger than the 2nd youngest on his team, why does he think he might have gotten the 50th percentile salary by negotiating?

I think for me, the most important, and underrated, part of this conversation is regarding Data Mesh. I run the data department for a midsize mental health organization based in NY and there's such a huge gap between the providers and the data itself, I wouldn't even begin to be able to explain here. Bridging the gap between the underlying data that's gathered and what happens in reality, specifically in mental health is probably one of the next big things (IMO).

How honestly he admitted being an entrepreneur also raises self doubt ❤

This Tech Lounge series is so cool, Sundas! I got a lot of motivation from this interview, and the conversation between you two was very interesting and down to earth, I appreciate that. Thank you, Zach, for all the advice to prepare as a data engineer! 👩🏽‍💻

Sundas, do you remember me? When he appeared in one of your shots, I commented on that video requesting a detailed vlog about him, which would be very helpful for us. You replied that you would be making such videos, and now you have done it
Awesome 🙌

It's funny how some people see him as a genius and others see him as a crackhead.

Zach's mannerisms remind me of Joaquin Phoenix portraying Arthur Fleck in The Joker.

Thanks for bringing Zach! pleasure to watch someone who speaks openly about the pay and sharing other insights. Never a dull moment during entire videos. Kudos to you as well as being a great host giving required space.

I simply can't choose between becoming a data analyst and then striving to become a data engineer, or becoming a sysadmin and then striving to become a cybersecurity analyst. These are IT fields I'm deeply interested in. Can someone give me their opinion on which path is more realistic to pursue?
