I met Liv Ullmann back in the 1970s. She was in Baltimore for a book signing. I worked a few blocks away, so I went to the event. Not a lot of people knew who she was, so I had the opportunity to talk with her for a few minutes. She was very nice, humble, and soft spoken. One would never guess her international notoriety. Over the years and moving many times, I lost the book she signed. Too bad.

Wonderful. Thank you. I love the last sequence of "Summer Interlude." The shot of the ballerina standing tall in her toe shoes and kissing the man was passed down to "An Affair to Remember" (L. McCarey), "Black Swan" (D. Aronofsky) and "The Boy and the Heron" (H. Miyazaki).

Adyflik, your work is truly wonderful. These are some of the finest montages I've seen on you tube.
Perfect begining and ending!
A fitting tribute to the greatest film-maker of all time!

Incredible. Thoughts, consciousness on film. The present moments! I’ll never forget the chess game, the face on the right, the back of the head on the left, the triangle of light in between from Persona. He does the medium two shot shot and the closer in profile better than anyone. And even a minimalist screen with one moving object!

Recently I got this complete Bergman box into my video library (Cost an arm and a leg) And I like his movies from the 40´s a lot, when he was heavily into neo-realism Italian style influenced. Charming and relatable with social commentary in the dark parts. Of course they cant hold up a candle against unique movies like Wild Strawberrys, Persona or Hour of the Wolf but that was 20 years before. An eternity in film making

I wish this video could go on for hours. But we have his films for that. I have yet so many Bergman films to watch. Someone mentioned cinematographer Nykvist and of course that's half the equation right there! Bergman and Fellini: give me that and I won't bother you again.

For me his greatest film, and I've not seen them all - he was so prolific is Fanny and Alexander, which is sort of an autobiography. The scene when the father dies and the widow, screaming, walks in and out of shot seen through partially open doors is spine chilling. Again, great choices.

I'm really enjoying your videos. Bergman's and Tarkovsky's were my best. I hope you will make a video of Dreyer's films one day

As somebody pointed out, I miss Hour of the Wolf. Happy to see the very much maligned Serpent’s Egg, I love the twist at the end and the atmosphere of the Weimar Republic falling to pieces is very good. I have seen you doing Fellini also. What about Buñuel, Greenaway, Fassbinder, Pasolini, Haneke, Von Trier, Alexei German, Sam Peckinpah, Svankmajer, Kurosawa, Bella Tarr, Herzog, Kusturica, Zhang Yimou, Fritz Lang...? The list could go on and on. I like your taste. I am jumping now to see your rendition to Tarkovsky.

Beautiful compilation, but I'm missing two of my favorites from Stardust & Tinsel: the opening shot with the tragic clown on the beach and the shot inside the tent between the two suitors. 👏
