Cliff's whole pitch is "If it fits the analogy, then it fits the argument"

Apparently, science is a religion and a deity, and as an atheist, that's what I worship. Silly theists

“Order and design does not come out chaos”

Yes it does. The atoms in a crystal for example or the sand dune in a desert. Very nicely ordered, no designer involved.

Ironically the universe was never more “ordered” than in the beginning and has become steadily more chaotic.

Once he learns the student is a biology major, he switched to consmology. Also, no apologist has EVER answered the question that if god created the universe, why is it the christian god?

I enjoy that everyone around cliff is just looking at him like a homeless man just walked on campus and started to talk about the government using lice to spy on people.

There are some cliff videos where the interlocutor is so painfully obviously sent by cliff to ask stupid flawed questions so he can make shorts where he dunks on college kids. It’s really fucking funny

I just don't understand why they think defining their imaginary friend out of the contradictions in their arguments is going to work on anyone who doesn't already believe this garbage. Does he think that saying "he revealed himself in such and such a way" is somehow better than "I assert that he's such and such a way?" Because I've got bad news for him if he does.

Nothing but a God of the gap's argument and special pleading

"Idolotry, " in this context. is synonymous with "heresy." It is simply special pleading with a sidedish of fiat.

Every time I listen to an apologist, it's clear they don't have a strong grasp of the language they use. Using temporal references to things which supposedly precede spacetime is an obvious one, but the constant loading of their questions with terms like "design" and "creation" which presume their explanation before they offer it is a more damning one imo. They don't know what terms like "eternal" or "beyond" mean at all, either, because they always use them in incoherent ways.

"It's idolatry"
No, Cliff, it's special pleading and goal post shifting.

If we imagine chaos as a state where literally anything can happen, I don't understand why order couldn't result from it.

I'm really happy you're taking care of these frustrating street videos by Cliffe Knechtle. They always leave me thinking 'I wish I'd have been there' - or even better, you. lol

This is the problem in general with street epistemology - the advantage is always with the guy who has the snappy patter and microphone. Cliff has a well-rehearsed presentation while the student is continually being put on the back foot. Cliff sounds confident in his word salad, so it almost never ends well with the guy on the other end. It's theater, not a real dialogue.

Great video, TMM! 👏 It’s always entertaining to see these attempts to mix science with religion get debunked. Here are a few points to consider:

1. Misuse of Scientific Concepts: Science is based on empirical evidence and testable hypotheses, not faith.

2. Cherry-Picking Data: It’s crucial to look at the full body of scientific evidence, not just selective findings.

3. False Equivalency: Scientific theories are rigorously tested and peer-reviewed, unlike religious beliefs.

4. Misinterpretation of Terms: Terms like ‘theory’ in science have specific meanings that are often misunderstood.

5. Appeal to Authority: Individual opinions don’t represent the scientific consensus.

0:20 "Order and design do not come out of chaos by chance."

Ironically, the Hellenistic concept from which we get the word "chaos" was believed to have created the universe.

I HATE when apologists talk to young atheists who do not know a fraction that I know.

I bet I could debunk them real time.
