This drama has been a vertical crescendo in just four episodes that deserves applause. Four episodes that already seem like a whole season because of how intense they have been. Moreover, this fourth episode has been a turning point, not only for the final twist that promises to change the cards on the table, but also for the notable progress that has been made with Sa-eon and Hee-joo in discovering hidden sides of them and how their relationship is growing episode after episode. In this regard, it is interesting, even a little ironic, that Sa-eon lived the same childhood as Hee-joo: both overwhelmed, pressured, by their respective families and used only for their own gain, without caring in the slightest about their feelings and the emotional damage that this has caused them. In this sense, from the very beginning, Sa-eon saw in Hee-joo a kindred spirit, because she was living the same drama as him. This is also one of the few cases where, personally, I don't mind that they brought up the usual cliché of the childhood bond between the protagonists, since here it is well contextualized and a fundamental part of the plot and the construction of the characters. Furthermore, this scene gives context to Sa-eon's words as he continues to ask Hee-joo to stop pandering to his mother, a bit like he is stopping being his father's pawn in the presidential race. Surely the highest moment of the entire episode is represented by Hee-joo's job interview which, in addition to showing Sa-eon her skill and determination, was like seeing a sort of mutual flirt, but above all a confession from Hee-joo who admitted that she was "crazy" for him, which for a moment made Sa-eon break out of her cold composure 🤭. Moreover, the final speech he makes and asks Hee-joo to translate it into sign language is a clear declaration of intent towards the latter, given that at that moment Sa-eon had already learned that she does not suffer from selective mutism and I found it a beautiful moment. Beautiful, sure, but never as much as Sa-eon's all-out defense of Hee-joo when the latter, in the guise of 406, denigrated herself at the moment of maximum vulnerability, after having heard all sorts of things from her mother before and from those gossipy girls in the bathroom, showing Hee-joo what he really thinks of her and the feelings he has, even if they had been clear for a while now. I thought the game of pretending to be 406 would last a little longer, but I think it's better this way: the drama is moving fast and now it seems to have already made a further leap in quality where Hee-joo and Sa-eon can finally be open with each other and face the challenges that lie ahead, such as the real guys behind the attack on Hee-joo, the return of In-a (will she be a positive or negative character?) and their respective parents. In all of this, Sang-woo is a somewhat enigmatic character, both for the story he told and because he still doesn't reveal his true intentions. I found the story of how Sa-eon met You-ri funny, which was how I imagined it: he was cold and caustic as always, but with a heart that, in its icy severity, was instrumental in You-ri's professional growth, hence the admiration she has for him. I'm curious to see how Sa-eon will react to learning the truth about 406, having already had mixed feelings when learning that she could talk: a mix of anger, surprise, and curiosity. I wonder why Sa-eon, since he's pretty sure he fell in love with Hee-joo twenty years ago, hasn't learned sign language all this time. However, it did make me laugh that Hee-joo epitomized Sa-eon's "bipolar" behavior when he had her father transferred to another medical facility, which is actually what we all wonder: why keep Hee-joo at a distance with his caustic behavior if he loves her? We'll see...
