Why Did Ancient Egyptians Worship Cats?

Ancient Egypt was known for its incredible mathematics, advancement in technology, and just overall outstanding civilization. One of the bigger mysteries in all of Ancient Egypt was the idea of worshipping cats. Pharaohs and leaders throughout the ancient Egyptian era worshipped cats for a few different reasons that some archaeologists still don't understand today.

I am lucky I live in Turkey. Everyday i can pet at least 5 different cats and dogs and there are many beatiful people, seagulls and a sea and a lake. Man I am lucky.

All is true in the video, but it must be emphasized that cats were the first and only animal to defend and protect crops and the cereal storage from rats , different insects, and in so doing protecting Egyptians from diseases. Crops and cereal were the main part of Egyptian diet and livelihood!That's how the relationship started. Every field or storage room should have cats in and around it. After then came all the other amazing attributes mentioned above!
The Goddess Baster with a cat head, was first associated with home and nurturing. She brought the heat to the Nile flooded fields to make crops grow...

1:53 the real reason cats were "prioritized" above commoners being buried with the deceased is because after the First Dynasty humans were no longer sacrificed and buried with the dead. Instead they used small human statues and pets as stand ins for humans.

4:33 I think it’s really important too that cats very rarely kill each other when they’re fighting, unlike dogs or most other animals. The reason is because getting injured while fighting creates the threat of infections that could kill them. They know this so that’s why you rarely ever hear of cats killing each other. I think that’s an amazing fact. It may be for self preservation but it actually lowers the risk of death for all cats. People tend to underestimate feline intelligence. I think they are one of the most intelligent animals in the entire world.

Honestly, I think they made gods out of cats because they caught mice. It's really as simple as that. It was a simple society, one of the biggest problems was mice in grain storage rooms, and cats helped big time with that.
