I have a huge yard in southern Washington state. I have been using non-ethanol gas in a riding mower which wore out and a weed whacker. I've heard it preserves engine life, etc.

When my riding mower wore out - because my large backyard is so uneven in height; some areas are 3" higher than others, the riding mower was kind of dangerous. When it wore out I bought a higher-end, self-propelled Honda a few months ago.

In the weed whacker and especially the Honda, yeah, they run on non-ethanol but their motors run slower and with less power and sound different. There's nothing wrong with either. With the Honda, the loss of power is disappointing. It's still adequate.

How critical do you think non-ethanol is in mowers?

just another tip. if the hose is shared by both ethanol and ethanol free, put the 1st gallon in your vehicle. that stops any chance of ethanol getting into your small motors.

I run 95 octane E5 gas in mine and it runs fine, it's less carbon dioxide coming out of the exhaust with a bit of ethanol in the gas. I haven't had problems with the carburetor

Ethanol fuel will CLEAN your engine Not sure about bowser e10 but e85 makes for a cleaner engine.
