Please do your homework on this, folks. Escalating insulin costs have been an ongoing problem since the early '00's, nearly trippiling in about 15 years. Why? Because there are ONLY three companies that manufacture and distribute insulin in the US. And their pricing practices are opaque. They are not held to account for jacking up the prices on a life-saving drug that was introduced in the 1920's.
Congress is, as usual, doing nothing. So, individual states are proposing caps on the monthly cost of insulin.
The program Trump is spouting off about was actually announced 3/11/2020, is a voluntary pilot program, limited to seniors 65 and older, and open to those who elect the premium coverage options through Medicare. This means zilch to my family. It likey means nothing to a large part of the population, especially those who are under 65, don't have insurance, or don't have a qualifying plan.
Trump's announcement is nothing more than a meaningless, empty election year ploy.
