Well-done Sir. I am proud to say that my coat wardrobe consists of the styles & weights you presented. A varied selection of coats is how I survive winters.

So glad I found this channel. Been a fan of overcoats in general and I'm still learning and this video alone taught me a lot! I already have my eye on that double breasted belted raglan dark brown coat!

This is probably one of the best videos I've seen on the subject of tailoring. Bravo!

Justin, you're quickly becoming the best chanel for menswear on youtube. Some of my favourite channels compared to yours: Brian Sicawa pretty much stopped posting, sartorial talks never shows of their clothes properly like you, the chaps guide doesn't have the production value like you, gentlemen´s gazette is beginner friendly but is visually more focused on rehashed b-roll which makes it less enjoyable to view, the Rake and Kirby Allison makes professional documentries now which is great but personally I just want to watch someone show off beautiful inpirational clothes. There are also some great channels for sartorial tailoring, like aspiring gent, Saville row tales and vintagebursche but they focus more on the technical tailoring side of things, which isn't always useful unless you are a tailor. Maybe you are on second place, since the armoury makes really good styling videos for those that are already further along on their menswear journey. If you did a video that wasn't so much focused on educating beginners like luke hodges that would put you over the edge 😁. The coats you showed off in this video are so beautiful. The cloth choice is immaculate. Thank you for sharing.

I live in NYC and a below-the-knee DB over coat is what I wear if I want to keep warm. I have a couple of coats, but my current favorite is a heavy navy Casentino officer's coat. While it's informal I pair it with formal suiting (something that Gianni Agnelli would've done haha). My splurge is a bespoke taupe Escorial wool Ulster made by a Milanese based tailor. Even in hard to impress New York, total strangers would compliment me every so often because it is now so rare to see a man in a well fitted coat.

Rarely have i watched a contribution so worthy of acknowledgment and praise!

I learned very much from this. I intend to rewatch a few times and currate the coats I currently use, and when I do so make some decisions. That would be a very cool follow-up, btw. Top three coats that a gentleman should spend money on, for the reciprocation of quality.

There is a common misrepresentation that men should not be overly concerned with fashion or style. It is usually based on the following:

* "I'm straight..."
* "I have a 'random garment' that already works."
* "Who cares..."
* "That doesn't seem masculine."

... all of which mostly share such... not homophobic precedences, but definitely archaic understandings of social interaction.

The other excuses that are less aggressive but more sad are:

* I can't afford to care.
* I dont care.
* It shouldn't matter.

You do not need to be rich to care about how you look. Nor do you need to be challenged to look your best for the occasions.

Many try to present some false state of poverty or priority as a symbol of altruistic purpose.... and let's be honest; that is a false representation.
I have never seen a single one of them starving or offering their coat to the homeless, whilst they are out frolicking lavishly on the streets of the city, embracing inhibition and exhibitions.
How we look and dress and communicate is not just about how we see or represent ourselves. It is also about how we see others and how they communicate.

Even criminals care how they look. World renowned rappers, historically infamous criminals, pompous artists, confused adolescents, etc.

Learning fashion is not a disolvement of the person you are advertising.... it is an understanding and choice to show that you respect yourself, and that you respect others.

Your videos are concise yet informative. I like your tone and pace very much as well.
So glad to see such a great video about classic menswear.

Btw, I don’t know if you have tried escorial wool yet or not. I personally think it’s one of the best cloth for an overcoat.

I want an ulster collar coat SO bad! The collar and bellow knee length would be great for my sense of style.

Overcoats just look absolutely beautiful on anyone. Would love to own a few down the line. Very rarely do I see someone wear any type of overcoat but when I do, I appreciate the look it has on them and I should probably stop staring too much too lololol

This is one of my new favourite menswear channels. Really enjoyable to watch. Also that hound's tooth tweed at 10:47 is absolutely beautiful. Do you know what mill it is, by any chance?
