How to Fix Invalid Value For Registry Error on Windows 10

If you getting the error Invalid Value for Registry When Opening JPG/MP3/PDF/MP4 files. Then this video is for you.

Reset Microsoft Photos App

Go to Start / Settings / System / Apps & Features
Click on Microsoft Photos app
Select Advanced Options and click the Repair Button and then Reset Button

Repair Corrupt System Files

In Search box, type Command Prompt or cmd
Right-click Command Prompt
Click Run as administrator
In the command prompt window type sfc /scannow and press Enter

Once that has finished run the following command.
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Reinstall Microsoft Photo's App

Right click start button and click run and type: wsreset

In Search box, type troubleshoot and run the Windows Store app troubleshooter

Warning: You do this at your own risk.

Navigate to the following registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\AppModel\Repository\Families\Microsoft.Windows.Photos_8wekyb3d8bbwe

delete old registry entries

Create a new user account

Change Microsoft Phones app to Windows Picture Viewer.

Nice Brian, I faced this problem a few weeks ago with someone what I had to do was back up their system which was time to backup anyway. What I did was roll back to 1803 then installed reinstalled manually 1809 seem to fix the problem. I couldn't be bothered doing the steps I was seeing online and wanted a solution that I know would work.

 I always wait before I update to any new build of Windows 10 and manually update mine by downloading the update rather than let windows do it. I find this way best for me others may find different ways that work for them.
