I think that there's a little detail in GTA V where you can see more stars when you're in a less populated area (Like Blaine or Paleto Bay) than when you are in a big illuminated city like Los Santos. That's a neat light pollution

*Additional info:*
According my gta 4 gameplay experience so far, the screen was always blurry no matter how the in-game weather changes(I used weather cheat to test it out, in any case). So I suggest that Liberty city was heavily polluted by smog.

Unlike what happens in the game which it will never affect Niko's health; in real life, this could lead to respiratory damage.

A touch of detail for GTA V: if you stand afar and looking towards Los Santos (say like you're standing on top of Vinewood sign) at night with clear weather, you will notice the air would turn orange, indicating smoke and light pollutions combined, much like what happens in Los Angeles.
