It actually only tells you if the reflection is on the front or back of the glass. If on the front, it COULD be a reciprocal mirror (two way glass/one way mirror), or just the way the regular mirror is made. Also the thinner the glass, the closer your finger will be to it's reflection. The best way to check for a camera is turn the lights off, open your camera app, turn it to night mode or monochrome and look for a light you can't see with your own eyes, but can with the camera. That's the IR illuminator for a camera. They also sell detectors that do something similar online for $20-$50.

For ppl who don't get it when u touch the mirror u should see a little gap in between ur finger and the reflection, but if there is no gap that means it has a camera and the people who put the mirror there can watch ur every move u should try this when u go to an air bnb or hotel/motel

Edit : k y'all seem to disagree and say that it depends on the thinkness of the mirror- if that was so my comment would have looked a little different don't ya think? I said try it in a hotel, Airbnb, etc place because the generally have the same thinkness and, besides thinkness only makes the gap seem bigger if there is one in the first place, if there is no gap -no matter the thinkness - there will be no gap
