"Indolic" is a polite, scientific-sounding euphemism that basically but seriously translates to "smells like poo" :) That's because indole happens to be exactly the chemical that gives poo it's smell. It is also present in some flower oils (e.g. jazmin) which is why some of those, or fragrances based on those, might be sometimes called "indolic". That said, apparently when highly diluted indole is supposed to have a pleasant smell. Can't vouch for that, but have read that that is the case.
