Fixing dog aggression between dogs living in same home

In home aggression between two dogs. I get contacted every single day about this. It can be fixed permanently but it’s very difficult and MUST be done by the owners with guidance from an experienced trainer. Treats won’t fix it and neither will e collars. Rewards won’t fix it and neither will punishment. The mindset of the dog must be changed

Honestly, I feel like I need a support group for this problem! I'd love to have weekly zoom meetings with people who are experiencing the same problem.

I've been training dogs for 25 years whether for basic obedience, aggression, or personal protection and I have to admit it I agree with you 💯

Only 4 minutes in and this is exactly what I needed. Thank you. I’m emotionally having… the hardest time with these two. They are separate at all times currently. For at least the past 3 weeks.

We were having issues with our 6 year old chihuahua and our new Aussie puppy. Chihuahua was resource guarding and the Aussie loved violating her space, regardless of getting bit in the face. He’s so young that he doesn’t understand dog language yet. We started with telling the chihuahua no and removing her from the situation. It wasn’t helping. I followed everything here for 2 weeks and what a difference! It’s amazing how the chihuahua looks at me right in the eyes when the Aussie is out of line. She knows that she doesn’t have to handle it because I’m going to. She calmly waits for me to remove him. We’ve gone 2 days now without a single attack, growl, or snarl and they’re even starting to share toys. The puppy is starting to respect her space. Thank you!!

This really opened my eyes to the responsibility of being a dog owner. I truly appreciate this.

If you are dealing with this, you understand and recognize what he is saying.

Thank you

You have changed my life in 26 minutes. You have helped me more in 26 minutes than the hours I have spent with a trainer. Thank you so much for this!!

I literally was crying this morning seeing no hope for us and my 2 poodles 😔 I was able to see a few videos, but nothing like yours, I will definitely educate myself more in your channel. 🙏🏻

I made it through all 27 minutes and it felt like you were just getting started! Pure gold! You talked about some of our exact problems and some of the exact mistakes we are making! We have several dogs who mostly live in peace. One is periodically aggressive against our oldest dog. Other times they were fine and the fight (one-sided) starts out of the blue. Yes, the injuries to our old girl are super traumatic for her and all of us. We want to give it a try to not have to give up the other dog as she is great in all other ways. I've been failing as their owner - thank you so much for showing me how I can do right by both of them. Most of my mistakes have to do with letting the aggressive dog make too many decisions (invading my space, guarding me from other dogs, bad on leash, etc) Please do a Part 2 and go ahead and talk for an hour.

This is so great. Thank you for this. Both of my dogs have lived peacefully for about 5 years together, and recently one has been lunging at the other and cornering him. You are 1000% correct that it's because I haven't been putting in the time, and I've allowed one dog to feel comfortable doing so. I've even noticed that after I break her away from him, and tell her to leave, she will start to growl at me until i do not move out of her space. She then seems insanely guilty. She has always been a very anxious dog, and I feel awful knowing that it's definitely due to me not providing that leadership and confidence. I wish I lived closer because I know this can be fixed. I've spent well over $1, 000 dollars in training, and they all want to make loud noises and stomp or yell. I just want respect and for them to both know that I'll step in when needed. This is so helpful, thank you!

This video is 2 years old when I am viewing it. So appreciate you putting this out there for all of us in need of help. I have little dogs and even though the aggressive one is 5 lbs. It is disturbing the harmony of our home. I thought you had been in my house and saw what was going on. I think I know what I need to do now and I'm on it. Thank you so much.

I agree with the notion that I cannot just google my way through professional dog training, but this video does put my head in the right place. All residents must take ownership of the dogs life and training, and the owner willing to make some changes in the start of a program is solid advice before hiring a professional.

I thank you so very much for reiterating over and over again that it is the responsibility of the owner to work on the basics and see them through this horrible time or get rid of the dogs. It is not the dogs fault. Most people do not understand that the dogs are suppose to be obedience trained before EVER using a prong or shock collar. Blessings

I cannot even begin to tell you how thankful I am for this video! In literal tears because THIS has been the ONLY information I have been able to find with an explanation! A true no holding back and no sugar coated bs explanation! Yes, I have been doing everything wrong. People will say in blogs or chats to Crate and Rotate....ummm ok. Let's Google. Gives a definition but doesn't explain anything! I have two puncture wounds and bruises all around my wrist from breaking up a fight and then she came after me. No not a pit or even a rottweiler....but a small 25 pound beagle. I will return to this video hopefully soon to update. Thank you again.
