Climate change is real and hydrogen cars produce the most greenhouse forcing gases of any technology available. Why would anyone think that was a good idea? Luckily, hydrogen cars are also lousy cars, in no way better than hybrids and in several ways worse than hybrids. Way more expensive to buy and fuel than a hybrid, way worse fueling infrastructure, less passenger and cargo space than a hybrid, at least five times the climate change emissions of a hybrid, and pollutes the groundwater too. Anyone hung up on charging speeds for EVs on long trips can just buy a hybrid.

No one needs six hundred miles of range unless they are driving a hydrogen FCEV with no fueling infrastructure.

For almost everyone an EV is a far superior choice; faster acceleration, less maintenance, more passenger and cargo space, the great convenience of plugging in at home and charging overnight, fast enough charging on road trips that by the time you have your bite to eat and bathroom trip you are charged and ready to go. But if an EV is not for you, a hybrid is infinitely superior to a hydrogen car.

For a technology to be adopted there has to be some benefits one can point to. Hydrogen has none.

Where can they be purchased and are they very expensive?

I see nothing remarkable about a Hopium besides nice looking. Stuff a big tank down the middle and chew up the interior room. It still uses a li-ion battery to accelerate and regen. It has a 10kg tank to go 620 miles for 62mi/kg. That's a tiny bit better than a Nexo SUV and worse than a decade old Mirai and way worse than the second gen Mirai at 72mi/kg. Also it's not possible to fill a 10kg tank through a standard nozzle in 3 minutes. When you look at the details, it's 60% of a tank in 3 minutes under ideal conditions. Pretty much the same as any other FCEV. In the end, you've still got to get the price of retail hydrogen at the station to be less than $5/kg before anything that runs on hydrogen to go anywhere. It's like trying to sell EVs if the price of electricity was over $2/kWh instead of 10¢-20¢/kWh.
