Destiny has an outstanding OST. I think we can all agree that “Journey” and “Deep Stone Lullaby” are a must!

The cover was so good they put it in the game!

Quick correction, while this is used in destiny 2 the original was written by C Paul Johnson for the original Destiny 1 OST, and the redux was a fan cover that they ended up using for a reprised version of the activity in Destiny 1: Rise of Iron

Surprised I haven't seen it suggested yet, but while I agree with people recommending things like "The First Disciple" and "Riven of a thousand voices" I personally have to say that the Destiny 2 track "Journey" ft the Kronos Quartet is a MUST hear! The tone it sets is incredible, and it's definitely up there with the most emotionally effective points in a video game for me. You could do the live orchestra version, but I have a personal bias towards the original recording. For the video game context of the track, it's the opener to a story point where you've suffered the first massive defeat, your home is burning, your once-immortal comrades are being killed left and right, and you and the rest of humanity are cast out as refugees on a journey to regain your strength and hope.

Destiny 2 has an amazing OST! I really recommend the tracks 'The First Disciple' or 'Riven of a Thousand Voices'. These are incredibly climactic and musically thoughtful pieces and the D2 composers are at their best doing grand-scale raid boss fight themes

Great to see Destiny getting love! I recommend Deep Stone Lullaby, Journey and The Man They Called Cayde! 3 great songs

If you want more Destiny tracks to break down, here is what I personally recommend:
Regicide from The Taken King expansion in Destiny 1.
Shell of What Was from the Destiny 2: Forsaken expansion.
The First Disciple from Destiny 2: The Witch Queen expansion.
Dark Blade from Destiny 1: The Taken King expansion and it's counterpart from The Witch Queen expansion, The Light Blade.

I remember after the first time or two fighting this boss in destiny 2 (where the cover plays during the fight) I told my friends that I was playing with "hey guys I won't hear you this fight but ill be where I need to be" And I would turn down my party chat and turn up the music and just jam. Some peak memories you have brought back and with fresh insight of the composition. Thank you!

So the story goes that Sepiks Prime (pronounced like septic but without the 't' and add the 's' to the end) is a boss at the end of a strike from early Destiny 1. Later in an expansion called Rise of Iron — just now noticing that title being a great place for a metal cover — Sepiks Prime is revived early on in the missions by a cursed technology called Siva. They brought back the strike with Sepiks Prime and used this cover during that battle and named the track Sepiks Redux. But if you have a chance to, I'll reiterate what some are saying here and try a listen of Deep Stone Lullaby. Really good Destiny track.

Quick edit: I typed that previous text as I was listening to you, but "I'm still here" LOL.

So this is the music that plays during a particular boss fight in the game, that boss' name being Sepiks Prime (pronounced Sep - iks). This was everyone's favorite fight in Destiny 1 specifically because this song made it feel so epic. He'd be sending wave after wave of minions at you while also assailing you with powerful, slow blasts as he teleports around his arena. Was a tense fight (when it first came out) and a great track to fight him to.

If you liked this, destiny 2 has some crazy music. The First Disciple (Full Action) is one of my favorites. Try to listen to the extended version please! I’d love to hear your reaction!

Hey Geebz, I love watching you react to video game music. It fills me with joy to see you treat these tracks with such respect and even when you try to understand how these connect with the gameplay.

Thought I'd drop in my suggestion: "No Escape" from the Hades OST.

Appreciate it, keep up with the good work!

Oh man, always a pleasure to see Destiny music. If you're taking recommendations, I think you might find Drown in the Deep, Replicate, and Athanasia + Security Breach (technically two separate OSTs, but they're effectively one track split in half) interesting. They're both Destiny 2 tracks as well. Anyways, always fun to listen to your reaction and breakdowns, regardless of what's being listened to.

So awesome that you are reacting to Destiny 2 music! Destiny 2 has some of the best raid music out of any game! I definitely recommend what others were saying about listening to The First Disciple, Replicate, Look Within, or Riven of a Thousand Voices.

Definitely ask Misha to do an interview! That would be amazing!

Destiny is such a gem of a game music whise. I highly sugguest destinys spacewalk track "Deepstone Lullaby" which plays after a boss encounter as you jump through space.

Man Geebz, your reaction channels are my favorite on youtube. You do all sorts of cool stuff. I've been playing Destiny for a 5+ years now and never expected to see it on the channel. Destiny also has some really beautiful and melancholy songs through its multiple soundtracks. So many cool and memorable tunes.

I can't get enough of these anime and videogame OST videos!!! Always perk up when I see a new one. These games and shows mean so much to me and a big part of that is owed to the soundtracks, so seeing you really dissect them and appreciate them is just fantastic content.

Hey found your channel a week ago and absolutely love it! Your open-minded approach to all those new musical worlds combined with your music expertise is so refreshing to watch.

That said, I'd love to suggest a game for you to take a listen to: Ori and the Blind Forest. It's a relatively small project with fantastic music by Gareth Coker, who also worked on the latest Halo game. Highly recommend songs like "Light of Nibel", "Climbing the Ginso Tree" or "Restoring the Light, Facing the Dark".

I'm still here! I like video game music a lot because its also great to listen to while working out. That feeling of anxiety you mentioned is good for motivation. Also the tracks tend to be longer and loopable, because on the hardest difficulty you could fighting and hearing this one song for like 15 minutes straight haha. You can notice some spots in the arrangement where it is clear they would put a cut there to keep it looping back into a different chorus, or loop perfectly into the ending flourish when you finally defeat him, which could happen at any point while the song is playing. Imagine having to make all your songs loopable like that!
