Ah the music of Brutiks chasing you around his arena. He might not be the hardest boss but I think he was the most relentless for sure. Even an enraged darkblade doesn't rush you down this hard.

One of the main motifs this theme references is from the track Temple of Crota in the Destiny 1 OST, honestly this version of it is probably my favorite though. It's pretty interesting as well because originally that motif was kind of considered the theme for the Hive (one of the enemy races) but with Witch Queen it's evolved more into a Sword Logic motif (which is a religion type thing certain Hive factions believe in) because the boss this theme plays for is Scorn, not Hive. What's super cool about that is how they essentially repurposed a motif commonly associated with one thing to instead represent something larger which from a story perspective showcases how the Scorn have evolved from basically mindless, scattered zombies to something more in line with the Hive, a giant formidable army who serves a greater enemy. Kind of went on a ramble there but you get the point.

It actually is both an environmental track and a boss theme. The part before the hard drums plays when you land on a certain destination, and the rest plays during a boss fight where a huge mfer is chasing you with a big flaming lantern while screaming like a beast

Damm, What a menacing track. I really like when composers combine orchestral instruments with more modern instruments. Does Destiny(Both 1 and 2), Have more tracks like this? I can't help but be curious.

If you take a look at the game's story, you can see that the songs are affected. At the beginning of the game we had more symphonic, heroic songs.
And now that we have the darkness between us, the atmosphere of the game has changed a lot. Now we have more synthetic and distorted music, the dark theme already shows that well.
In the first disciple (Raid) we have the guardians entering the pyramid to fight the disciple. It's basically light entering the darkness, and fighting it. This I think is amazing
