A KTO video is the only thing that could wake me up before September ends

He should have played for Virginia, they had a shitty basketball team compared to NC, so Curry could have been the main guy and averaged over 20 points a game and get drafted high in the NBA.

I understand that Curry was supposed to be much better, but considering his switch to WR in the NFL and being a somewhat good receiver is impressive to me

Ronald Curry is still considered the greatest high school football player ever in Virginia. In addition to playing QB, he played defensive back and also returned kicks. He made first-team All-State at all of those positions. In fact, on the Virginia high school coaches all-state team, he was the FIRST-TEAM ALL-STATE QB FOR ALL FOUR YEARS HE PLAYED FOR HAMPTON HIGH!

He was overrated as a basketball player, because he couldn't devote enough time to practicing due to spending so much time with football and academics. He also played high school tennis for a year! Imagine Allen Iverson, who he knew, playing high school tennis, which was a "country club sport" back then. LOL. He was a great student, also, so I'm sure he spent a lot of time studying. Playing point guard is a "practice position." If you're 6-11, you don't need to spend as much time practicing, because you're shooting closer to the basket. Ronald Curry peaked as a football player as a high school junior.

You'll never see a better punt returner in high school than Ronald Curry was. You had to see it to believe it. Anyway, he went to the wrong college if he wanted to play QB in the NFL. There are coaches known for being able to send QB's to the NFL, and North Carolina is not one of those schools where those coaches are. But, he had a nice NFL career as a wide receiver. I think he played for 8 years, and made millions of dollars. I read that he even overcame TWO torn achilles tendon tears, having to sit out a full year each time. I hear that now he's an NFL assistant coach. Ronald Curry was hated by University of Virginia fans, because supposedly he verbally committed to UVa to play both sports, and then changed his mind and decided to go to rival University of North Carolina. But he seemed like a very classy guy, and he was also religious and humble.

So, it all worked out well for Ronald Curry!

Note: this is weird, but there has only been one person to play in the NBA and the NFL. The bizarre part is that that person was Bud Grant, who was a famous NFL head coach. From the internet: "Bud Grant appears to be the first and only player who has played in both leagues. He was a first-round selection by the Eagles and a fourth-round pick by the Minneapolis Lakers. He played just two NBA seasons and averaged 2.6 points per game but was a reserve on the Lakers' 1950 championship team. In the NFL, Grant also only played two seasons, but he had a decent run in the CFL and eventually became a legendary coach with the Vikings."

Bud Grant hardly looked like a former professional athlete when I saw him on TV. Of course, he played before integration also.

I had the opportunity of playing with Ron C for two years at UNC. That dude was one hell of an athlete. We had the wrong system for him to flourish as a QB and he got injured my senior and it slowed him a little after that. People didn’t know that he tore his Achilles Tendon in 99 but still came back to finish with a solid career at UNC. That’s my dude and UNC brother for life. # Tar Heels

You missed a big part of Curry’s story. He was on his way to becoming a star for the Raiders but he had back to back season ending injuries that really derailed his career.

I grew up watching Curry while playing little league in Hampton and Newport News. I even watched his film in highschool while playing in NC. He will always be one of my favorite players. He was a beast!

Ronald Curry was a monster, he had a nasty one handed catch in the snow against the Broncos in 04

The catch at the end is more impressive in the snow because the ball is slippery and hard also your fingers are numb

Danny Ainge, Jim Brown and Wilt Chamberlain, and Nate Robinson were ridiculously good athletes, as well.

All were at least state players of the year (if not All-American) in multiple sports, played or could have played multiple sports at the D-1 level, and could have been Olympic athletes in sports like track & field.

Ainge was recruited and/or drafted to the pros in three sports!

Jim brown was an all-American in lacrosse.

Other elite high school athletes: Deion Sanders, Tim Tebow, Bo Jackson, Jim Thorpe, Chuck Connors...
