I remember getting up there at 4:30 am and we were able to get a really good spot to watch the sunrise. There was a good crowd standing at the view point even that early. Regardless of where you are standing, though the view was astounding. I'm sure you guys experienced that too 😁

Such a beautiful thing to experience! Were you up there in time for the chanting when the sun breaks through? So amazing! It definitely felt weird packing our puffy jackets, beanies, and gloves to go to Maui though. 😂

My wife and I saw the sunrise on haleakala in May of 1989. We were in Maui on our honeymoon. It was beautiful.

Pro tip, been several times. Sunrise is operated. Go for sunset as good or better and you don't have to get up so early.
