Misato was not a good mother. She was not a great guardian for Shinji or Auska. She lacked as even a lover for Kaji. That said, she was the matriarch for the show. Flawed, but real, she is the embodiment of the feeling of grit. Rash, sultry, bold, but still a broken girl out for revenge. The way she eventually has a child and then repeats what her father did strikes a cord with me. She hated her father, but also abandoned her own son for the greater good. Such a deep character. Her death was fitting and well done in the final film.

My dad died through this hard path, i don't really know where to go as i don't have a mother– I'm alone to myself even when there are people around me, it feels horrible but i know, i know i cant stop because that's not what my father would have wanted, i've been waiting for this movie and it's themes, it's music, it's animation.
